You need to update your driver.just go to your control panel click on performance and maintainance, then click on device manager and if any device has a ? next to it double click on that device and windows will open a window and ask you what you want to do ,just click either install driver or update driver, this should do the trick.

The spec say it has a built-in microphone. If you are using Windows, open the sound controller and check that the slider on the microphone is turned at least half-way up. When you open the sound controller (speaker in the systray next to clock), the microphone is normally muted. To test, unmute and tap the microphone or speak into it. Make sure you have the volume turned up on the speakers too.

Hi, the HP Compaq Presario 2200 PC has no built in or internal microphone. You will have to purchase an external one to record audio. The microphone jack, when viewing the laptop from the front, is located on the left side. There are small round holes which are jack ports. From the front to the back, the microphone port to plug in a microphone is the second hole back. Here is a manual in case you need more help with your laptop: Click Here. Hope this helps. It appears that your Acer has 3 ports in the front center bottomportion of the laptop. One of them should be for plugging in an external microphone, one should be for external speakers, and one should be an input jack.http://complap.com/yahoo_site_admin/assets/images/acer-travelmate-2420-2.192120139_std.jpg
