thanks, i have had the back open and apart but there is no sign of any popped caps or any obvious faults - the whole monitor is dead as a dorrnail though so not sure what the next step is - as it is otherwise a great monitor!..

It powers up but there is no picture

Hello
It is truly amazing the number of people who post here with the subject"No Picture" or "Monitor Problem" or "Monitor not working" when in 99.9% of cases there is nothing wrong with the monitor. The problem is almost certainly either graphics card or motherboard related. Occasionally LCD screens that have a separate 12V powersupply experience powersupply failure. If re-seating the graphics card or trying a replacement doesn't work then you will need to look at other components including motherboard, CPU, RAM, PC Power supply or data cable connected with CPU.
Good Luck, feel free to contact any assistance'
Do rate the solution if got help

It doesn't turn on

Check the power supply section.
Most common failures in the LCD monitors are bad capacitors (bulging top/seal or leaking) in the power supply, blown fuses; poor solder joints, failed inverter circuits (blown fuse, shorted transistors, shorted/open transformers), bad lamps (poor solder connections or worn out lamps). You will need to open it up and inspect the inside, see example of failed DELL monitors to get some ideas what to look for: http://s807.photobucket.com/home/budm/allalbums

Can't get out of powersaver mode

It is not really in the power sav mode, more likely to have failed power supply/inverter board due to bad caps, bad solder joints, etc. You need to open it up.

You have either power supply or inverter circuits failure, worst case will be lamps.

The front bezel snaps off. Power supply access requires dissassembly of screen from electronics cage.
