Re: cd se-r0094

I had to call Toshiba direct. Their warranty had to cover it. They sent a p/u tag for UPS to come get it and they had it sent to some place that could fix it. They did, sent it back and I have never had the problem again. Its a pain, but they can fix it.

Recently bought 2nd hand Cambridge Soundworks D-300 SE CD player. Wording on control buttons all worn off - don't know which button does what. Player will only play the 1st track on each CD, then stop

See for a picture of the front of the D300 SE to see which button does what. The 'first track only' issue could be for many reasons. Try cleaning the CD player lens and also checking the metal rods (slides) the laser runs on for debris. Really helpful and detailed instructions on CD player troubleshooting and maintenance are here

Nakamichi cd cassette player 1 not spinning discs

There's a Music Bank 7-disc player in use in my bedroom these days. Nice unit, but they used to come in for service once in a while- from what I could tell, these units don't 'park' the CD drawers on a soft power off- they simply shut down. When powered up again, they sometimes let the disc last in play slide off the tray & jam the machine. I've had no issues, as long as I always hit stop, wait for it to park, and then shut off. The analog output's sound has been very good (has a coax out as well).

Cd tray won't stay open--when you press the "open" button, it opens but then closes again immediately.

It has a misaligned loading mechanism. I have dealt with this kind of problem before. What is happening is that before the tray have a chance to open all the way it gets stuck and gets pulled back in.

I have a teac x-9, and during cd play, the cd doors randomly open and close causing me to restart cd play all over again. it does this on its own, and i don't push any buttons for it to occur. is this...

clean your eject button or check it 2 see if it is broke. if u have a remote try 2 play a cd with the cd player with the batterys out of the remote. last 1. the cd door could be off trak witch wood make the cd off balance when the eye goes 2 read the data on the disk it misses its data an will cause your cd player 2 open.

My cd doors wont open what can do.

Try disconnecting power. Connect back and then turn the DVD on by using the button in the player (not the remote) while at the same time you keep pressing repeatedly the eject button on the player. You will need to keep pressing eject until the unit start loading the disk.

If that does not work, then the DVD must be disassembled undoing the screws holding the top cover in the chassis.Once disassembled there is usually a disk stuck inside the drive or a mechanical issue. The disk tray motor rarely fails.

Do not disassemble the player unless you have repair experience. Before proceeding check warranty status.Call Kenwood if you want to book a repair

Pressing the 'open' button on my NAD C542 CD Player no longer opens the disk drawer. Any suggestions to fix this would be appreciated. Regards Michael

G'Day Michael,

Having fixed thousands of CD players in my career, and also being a NAD Authorised service guy from 1989 till recent times, I can comment with some authority to your situation, and correct some of the ill found assumptions given to you already.

This unit uses a KSS213c transport. Very common and used in many machines, also relatively reliable.

The drawer load motor is not shown above. Is will be mounted on the black plastic load assembly. The drive belt/motor for it will be under the tray runners.
If you do not hear the motor run, then it WILL NOT be a broken or failing belt. However, this is the most common problem with this style of transport. I would be checking anyway to see, the load motors do free run fairly quiet with no drive belt connected. Wind the tray assembly out by hand by kicking the gears over to open the draw to see the belt/motor

Because you cannot get it to work from the remote, AND you have "open" indicator on the front panel, it WILL NOT be a faulty front panel button(never seen one fail ever!)

I have never replaced a load motor to a Sony transport. Spindle motors can be a problem, but they never stop working altogether.

I would be checking the tray mechanics, a jam caused by something fouling the gears may cause a fail. Tap the front of the draw as you press eject to see if you can encourage it to work.
Sometimes, small nylon drive pinions can split, the excessive gap in the gears caused by the split causing a bind. Check also for blown pico fuses in the servo drive stage. This will cause no drive to the load motor.
If you cannot pin down the source of the problem, the player IS welll worth repair. These machines sound great and would have cost you a few bucks to begin with. If you need help locating an expert NAD authorised repair guy I can help.

Happy to discuss any of this further with you. As previously direct your comment to me by name. Cheers

The tray on my Arcam Alpha 6 CD player will not eject and refuses to budge. Neither the remote control nor the load button on the front of the unit will make it open.

It's either the gear on the tray loading mechanism or it's drive belt. The gear is made of a soft material and the teeth wear down on the hard tray rack. Get hold of Arcam and order TP21H replacement part and belt. The same happened to me and the gear had perished. In the meantime stick something onto the front of the tray that you can use to pull it open after you have pressed the 'load' key. Place your CD in the tray, press the 'load' key and push the tray closed manually. The player will work like this until you can replace the gear/belt.
