You will need that part to repair yours. i recomend using the heatsinks from yours. u need to check the FETs on the board that drives that one before u power it up, or u could damage the new part.

Philips tv wont turn on and makes a clicking noise when plugged into an outlet

It is that sound that gives it away, this is a typical switchmode Power Supply problem. Your unit has some sort of PSU fault, or a problem that is shutting down the Power Supply Unit, PSU. This happens so that no further damage, and possible fire will occur. The sound is it starting up, shutting down, over and over.
You need to take the unit to a reputable service centre/man and ask for a firm "Quote" for the work to be done.

42' plasma magnavox model # 42MF230A has no picture and no sound

I had the same problem with an Insignia 42" 1080p. Turn off the tv power and disconnect all cables (i started with power cable, then HD cables then HDMI). Wait 30 seconds with nothing plugged in, then I plugged everything back in (in reverse order) and it works fine.

This sounds like your Z sustain board has gone bad. I just repaired an HP plasma today with the same complaint. All the modules inside were LG. The Z board is the one on the Right side of the set with the cover off or facing the back. You might have 1 or 2 ceramic fuses on it, check them, if one is bad Replace the board.

Philips magnavox plasma tv model 42mf7010/17

Turn off the video mute if it has this setting. Try using a VCR tuner and connect the VCR to the TV on AV1 or AV2 inputs. THis fix is free until Feb. 09. After that, you will need a DTV converter box or pay for a cable/sat box.
