The Ds lite powers up for a brief moment then crashes
I was changing the casing of my sons DS .broken case but still working . The upper statement 'the Ds lite............crashes' really sums it up I assume it means it shorting out. The felxi cable that runs from the lower half to the upper body seems to be damaged so does anybody know where I can get a replacement?
I have also tried to start it the lower half of the body ,assuming (hopefully not being an ***) that it should power up the bottom screen without the upper but it doesn't make any difference it still 'Powers up.....crashes'
Anyway have I killed it is anything that could be done outside hurting my credit card

if you would have sent it to me first I would have replaced the case for you and you wouldn't have had these problems, but I can still help you out. I have a white nintendo DS lite in stock that I had to replace the bottom lcd display in. I will ship to you for $90 and if you are feeling adventurous send me your parts and I will take off $10 since I have no clue what is broken and what is not, but to me it sounds like the bottom lcd, touch screen , and circuit board are trash. As far I can see with this information is that you have a connector problem. Help you with that by writing solutions would nog easy solve your problem so my advice is to find a repair service in your city that can help you out or send it to Nintendo.
yes the shell can be replaced, you can either check ebay or google nintendo ds lite shell housing, i have seen them, doing this yourself is no easy task, there is a repair service on ebay under repair service fix nintendo ds lite
if you go onto ebay you can buy the correct screwdriver for 50p it is called a triwing screwdriver my daughter did the same to my ds she poured juice into the back i opened it up gave it a good clean with some cotton buds left it open for a couple of days and it works fine now hope this helps.
There is a ribbon that connects the top screen of the ds to the motherboard. It is possible that this ribbon became damaged when the hinge broke. A possible fix would be to replace the upper screen. Hope this helps.
I recommend you to change the broken case, you can choose to change only the hinge and keep the good case parts or change the entire shell. By the way stores usually sell the entire shell so you can choose. As your screens are still working you are lucky because so often the brown flexible conductor to the top screen get broken so be careful.
You can also use a silicon or hard plastic case to put over your broken NDSL to keep it in place just as the fast non technical option.
Here are some links and you can find text and video guides googling around.
