Question about Sony MHC-RG660 CD Shelf System

"mecha error"? I was reconnecting the front speakers while I had music playing through the system (probably not a good idea I know). When I picked up the amp to move it back to its original position, I heard a small pop and it shut down. If I try to turn it on now the display shows "mecha error", followed by "eject" then "standby", at which point it goes into standby. I'm hoping that this could just be due to something like a blown fuse, but I really have no idea. I'll probably have to take it to be fixed anyway, but can anyone shed some light on this?

E-Mecha...what does it mean?

Hello cclub2002,

First try to turn it off and then on.
If that doasent work, turn it off for 10 mins and then turn it back on.

If the error continues, let me know.
By the way, to try to get your CD out, search for a hole (2 mms in diameter) It should be near the CD tray, but could be anywhere.
Once you locate the small hole, find a paper clip or smomething as pointy as it, and insert the paper clip in.
Press it had and the CD tray will come out.

Good luck and anything else you need let us know,

Is there some way to connect an ipod to a Philips mc-m570 stereo?

the interface will probably only work with the phillips software, but many of those stereos support playing from a flash drive.

Cannot open cd tray. Cannot rotate cd's. Plays only one cd and intermittently. Get 'mecha error' message. Had similar problem last year without 'mecha error' message, which was...

In some cases this is due to the main spindle getting jammed or there are mechanical errors which as mentioned needs a reset.

Also in some cases when the CD does not play it is possible that the optical head is a suspect. Sometimes it might pick up ordinary audio CD but will not play other formats. This indicates that the optical head is weak and so there is no detection or scanning of the CD . If the optical is working the tracks will be read immediately but with no scanning the laser head can be defective.
Sometimes certain cleaner disks will not be tracked to run for cleaning as it will not be read and so will reject. Hence it is ideal to manually clean the laser head eye using a cleaning swap /cotton bud with gentle pressure on the lens eye.
If there is no result then watch if the CD spins or tries to spin. If so the board seems to work unless a test is taken on the main board but the possibility of a defective optical head can be the suspected fault.
If any of the above seems otherwise we must recheck with possibilities of a malfunction of the main processor board

My cd player is saying that there is a mecha error, what does dat mean?

mechanical error. a moving part is either broke or physically jammed. remove the cover (dont touch anything inside) and look for broken or jammed pieces, ssuch as gears or belts.

do not get your hopes up- you will probably not be able to fix it, and it will probably be too expensive to pay a professional to do it for you. the player is probably trashed.

Shelf cds is blocked SONY CMT-HP7

To get the cds to play, and 5 to eject, you can try taking off the sides of the consul and using compressed air. As for the shelf problem, I'm not really sure.
