Question about Sony MHC-RG660 CD Shelf System

3 Answers

"mecha error"? I was reconnecting the front speakers while I had music playing through the system (probably not a good idea I know). When I picked up the amp to move it back to its original position, I heard a small pop and it shut down. If I try to turn it on now the display shows "mecha error", followed by "eject" then "standby", at which point it goes into standby. I'm hoping that this could just be due to something like a blown fuse, but I really have no idea. I'll probably have to take it to be fixed anyway, but can anyone shed some light on this?

SOURCE: Mecha Error 12 on Kodak Photo 6800 printer
I had a 6850 with the Mecha error 12. No listing in the service guide for this error. I took the front of the printer off and observed that the cut head was not moving far enough to the left to trigger the sensor. I realized that a screw of unkown origin had fallen down behind the cut head and was preventing it from triggering the left sensor. It took a curved pick tool and a pair of tweezers to get it out. I don't recommend taking the cut assembly apart as the alignment is pretty crucial.

Hope this helps some poor sole from the hours of fustration that it gave me.

E-Mecha...what does it mean?

Hello cclub2002,

First try to turn it off and then on.
If that doasent work, turn it off for 10 mins and then turn it back on.

If the error continues, let me know.
By the way, to try to get your CD out, search for a hole (2 mms in diameter) It should be near the CD tray, but could be anywhere.
Once you locate the small hole, find a paper clip or smomething as pointy as it, and insert the paper clip in.
Press it had and the CD tray will come out.

Good luck and anything else you need let us know,
Dahaka

In my sony home theatre MHC - GZR88D i want to play music as dvd , usb ,etc.... ,don't played only one word is shown that mecha error , what can i do

Probably means there is something wrong with the DVD drive. Check that a disc is not inserted wrong. You could also try cleaning the DVD lens.

Right speaker terminal not working - tested out both speakers and they work fine when independently tested on the left speaker terminal. Sony MHC GX45 Shelf System, 2 speakers and 1 sub.

If the sound is also dead on that channel on a pair of headphones. Then you have probably lost the main power amp for that channel. To be certain. With you headphones on, slide or turn the balance control so you can only hear the faulty channel. With some music playing turn up the volume. If you can hear "faintly" music playing then the pre-amp is OK and the power amp has gone.
The power amp will be located on a heat sink. It will consist of 4 transistors (2 for each channel) or one big device (or two) (an IC). If it is transistors you only need to replace the two for the right channel.

I can hear music and background noises but no talking when I play a DVD.

Hi, What you are encountering is your receivers playback of a Dolby digital signal with out the proper amount of speakers attached. When using a 5.1 or higher system you must have at least 5 speakers connected. You need front left & right main speakers, then you need a center channel for the voices to play thru. then you want left & right rear speakers for the surround effect. It is possible though to do without these, you just switch the receivers sound field mode from theatre or movie to stereo. I hope this helps, write back to let us know if we did or if we can be of more help and thanks for choosing FixYa,good luck Prodzilla

Bought a LG Blu ray DVD Home theater system last weekend and set up with LG lcd tv and has been working fine till today. We had the radio on and I turned the TV on and the two rear speakers do not work...

Hello,
In a surround sound system, the correct way to listen to music is in stereo mode which will play out of your left and right channels and your subwoofer. When viewing a movie with surround sound, then you should use your rear speakers. The key element to remember is that rear speakers are only intended to play your sound effects, and will not play full range audio. Thats what your fronts and center are for. If you simply want to override this, than you will need to select the direct sound field on your receiver and than it will send full range audio to all speakers connected. Most likely, its not going to sound that good. If you dont know what each sound field does, here is a list and function of the most commonly used ones.
Stereo-Front Left and Right speakers including subwoofer
Dolby Digital or PLII Movie-these are the bost options for your surround sound
Direct-All speakers connected get full range signal
Good Luck

Polk computer speakers work in laptop but not on desktop computer

desktops now a days have more than one plug for the speakers. try playing some music and play which hole works.

if there is a 5.1 or surround on the desktop then most likely the light green jack isnt stereo out but rather unamplified signal. thus when you plug head phones into it the internal amp drives the headphones, but wants the computer to drive the speakers.

try plugging it into the black one... or play pick a hole till it works.

I am looking to upgrade my receiver to an audio video receiver that will hook up to a blue ray via HDMI. I want to use my 901's forthe front speakers. Can you recommend a mid priced (<$600) AVR that...

Good day,

Congrats on your new AV receiver. I own an awesome Yamaha mid-priced AV surround sound system with HDMI, BR disc player, and all that stuff. However, I'm old school and use my 901 Series Vs with a Yamaha RX-797 'two-channel' receiver. To get to the point, I have some bad news. Mid-priced (mp) AVRs, or any AVR for that matter, will not work with 901s because the active equalizer (EQ) requires either a 'tape monitor loop' or 'pre-out / main-in' connection to work properly. You've probably been told the 'why they won't work' by now and it is very true--I know from experience. Most of today's AVRs do not include a 'tape monitor loop' or 'pre-out/main-in connection for the EQ connection, thus, killing all hopes of using 901s. I truly love my 901 Series Vs (since 1985 and still kicking) and love true 'stereo' for playing my music. Again, 901s are useless with today's AVR equipment (as I know it). Just don't let your 901s collect dust--they are truly marvels!! Go with a set of good 'standard' speakers for the AVR system and buy yourself a decent stereo receiver or amp for the 901s--that's how I do it!! I've tried Onkyo, Rotel, Sansui, Poineer amps / receivers--all of them. I can tell you this--for the common, working man/woman, nothing, I mean nothing available can match-up with Bose 901s like a Yamaha RX-797 (200W)--not to mention the sound quality-wow!!! And this unit is very reasonably priced for such awesome performance and high quality build. Just know that all is not lost. You can still use your 901s--I cna't listen to music without mine.
