I saw your request for more clarification on another question about this model.
I bought one off of ebay in order to scan in my (large :-() collection of paperback books. It works fine but I don't know how to set it up to scan to a file or how to get the file back onto my computer when I'm done. I hope to scan 978 (EAN) barcodes off of books and UPCs off of dvds and other products. I would like to save this to my computer so I can create a database of what I have (I don't think that I can get internet access thru the 857, right? so I'd need a pc to resolve upcs and eans to the actual product.
Could you please suggest software to put on the apriva (if its software is installed separately) and on the blackberry 857 and where to find it? Do you have any advice on how to activate and use the upc scanner?
I really need to organize my collection of books. I am fairly computer literate, but am having trouble tracking all this down. When I go to options about it says that I have blackberry handheld version 2.5.0.84
thank you very much for any help and advice that you could give, and have a happy and safe holiday.
Best regards,
J.
