Re: hi, i have a samsung v20 laptop.2 questions...
I have a Samsung V20 for many years and I know it doesn't support a wireless connection built in. But if you connect a USB like myself you can have access to the internet wirelessly. The flikering on the screen are you sure you haven't got a screen saver switched on, you may have it set to a clear black screen and like you say have to tap the keyboard and it comes back to life. It may also have hibernation switched on which will automatically turn off the screen have so many minutes you can change all these setting by right clicking on the desktop and selecting properties and under the screen saver tab there will be a power btton you should see hibernation and other tabs across the top these can be altered to whatever you want.

Some issues when i installed, with the fix: After entering sleepmode, system won't boot "Still waiting for root device" After i've entered sleep mode and forced shutdown the computer, the BIOS settings are reverted to ACHI auto. Change it back to Manual and Auto. The sleepfile is still laying somewhere not making it to boot, use the boot flag Wake=n to get it back running.
Can't boot using iBoot after the first boot. Boot using the parameters -x -v and it should boot up fine.
Things that needs to be fixed:
However, the "tapping" of the trackpad is not working, so i need to press the button to click on a link, open a program etc. The F5 key is not working on the keyboard, but the F12 for Dashboard and the special FN keys are indeed working.
Sleep is not working at all, the screen gets black and then im stuck.
Wireless is not working either, tried adding the IO80211Family kext but when i copy it to the extensions folder, i get an error message saying that the kexts we're not installed successfully.
I have details from CPU-ID Cpu-z from Windows 7 which should tell the PCI-ID etc. Of the Wireless card, however i can't really find the maker and model of my wireless card. It seems like they got it with 3 different types of Wireless cards. This is from the driver download section from Samsung: Wireless LAN,BROADCOM (Driver) (ver.126.96.36.199) Wireless LAN,ATHEROS (Driver) (ver.188.8.131.529) Wireless LAN,INTEL (Driver) (ver.184.108.40.206)
Is there any way to figure out the make/model from the cpu-z specs?
there is a button on the side or top i cant remember on this model for wireless to be on or off. if you see no wireless networks then it set to off it may be a slide button on the side as well . also check your keyboard if you see what looks like the letter i with circles around it hold the fn key an dpress that key it wil turn on your wireless.
I have come across this issue before. I believe it was with a dell or Gateway laptop. The screen had been stepped on. I wanted to check the computer out before I replaced the screen. I connected an external desktop monitor. It worked fine. You just have to hope that the dual monitor feature is enabled. There's no way to do it without a monitor or active screen. I hope that helps.
You pc has a hidden recovery partition. You need to press F11 at boot up to launch recovery. But before you do make sure to back up all your data. the recovery wizzard will walk you though the whole process.
sounds like your new screen cable is either loose or faulty.i had same problem and was only after i had removed keyboard and ensured cable was tightly connected did i solve the problem.it seems to be a design fault in the samsung v20
