Question about Instant Cameras

1 Answer

Sticking button I put some batteries in my camera that hasn't been used for a while, then pressed the button which advanced the winder from the ''S'' position to the first frame but then it jammed.I opened the back and put in a film then closed it which retuned the counter to ''S'' but on pressing the button nothing happens. The batteries are new, and when you look through the veiwfinder it is just dark with no images. In the top left hand corner is the number 1000 lit up in green. Is this an expensive fix as I would like to sell the camera and accesories soon. regards pete

What kind of camera? If you can move select off auto, the mirror should return to down position. Then if you have a 1/60sec. or flash position fire the shutter a few times before using auto again.

Camera flashing E

In some cases, the error will result in a code with a C or E at the start. These fall under the self-diagnosing category. A C:32 error relates to issues with the camera's hardware or firmware. Usually, this can be resolved by powering the camera off and back on again. If that does not work, power the camera off, remove the batteries and let the camera sit for five minutes. This will drain the internal battery and reset the camera. Reload the batteries and power the camera back on.

A C:13 error denotes issues with the Memory Stick More often than not, this means that the Memory Stick is faulty. Attempt to format the stick by selecting the Memory Stick and reformatting it. If this does not work, get a new stick.

E errors require a full initialization of the camera. To do this, press the Menu button and arrow over to Setup 1. Then, select Initialize. Arrow up to OK and press the OK button to approve.

Hope this helps; also keep in mind that your feedback is important and I'll appreciate your time and consideration if you leave some testimonial comment about this answer.

Help with minolta x-300s, i cant seem to move the film winder

Well, here's the most likely things going on:

1. dead battery. Your X-300 has an electronic shutter that needs battery power to work. Try fresh batteries and check the battery contact wires for corrosion.

2. End of roll. If you have film in it, try the silver button on the bottom. rewind film and try another roll of film. Before you put in the new film, try the advance, click, advance, click thing.

3. Not all rolls of film are perfect. Some are shorter than they should be, some hang up in the canister.

4. The Minolta X-series were well known to have a problem. Two cheap capacitors on the later models would die, locking up the camera. One is under the top plate and the other under the bottom plate. These caps need to be replaced. I suggest you send it to a repair shop for that. Check prices. Garry's camera repair in Niles, IL does a very economical repair on these. It runs about $50 and $8 for return ship. He will also Clean, Lubricate and adjust it.

You could also buy another 300/370 on Ebay, as they're inexpensive these days.

Best of luck. Hope its just the film or batteries. You might also consider joining the Yahoo Minolta groups.

Film winder jammed halfway throgh a film and i took that film out ( it expired anyway) and i tired to put new one in but i couldnt becuase the film winder wont move do i have to get this repaired?

Check all the batteries. Get fresh ones. If this is a manual, lever-action film advance and you have a camera with a spring-driven shutter you probably have a stripped sprocket and it needs new parts. If you have an electric shutter but there's one spring driven shutter speed as a backup, try that setting. If it is a totally motor driven advance, try checking the drive battery and clean the contacts. If the motor drive is removeable, take it off and try the lever-action advance. Remember, a group of AA cells are only as good as the weakest one. Good luck

HI i just got a pentax winder me and i put new batts in it and when i turn it on all it wonts to do is keep winding it wont stop it worked one time now it wont stop unlless i turn it off . Thanks James

the winder should stop when the camera counter is on # 1. take the winder off the camera and clean the winder contacts on the bottom of the camera with a pencil eraser. also be sure that the winder is coupling to the advance shaft correctly. not much else you can do as there are no new parts available for this winder.

No film advance.

Hello drummer 37,   As I recall, this was a peculiar problem with all 35mm film cameras. Your canera could have; a bad battery or batteries, a short to the film advance motor, or corrosion, or bad gears to the film advance motors, or end of film, etc. You would need to open your camera in a darkroom bag and remove any film inside. If no film inside the camera, then do a circuit check from batteries to every electronic component and motor using battery power or bench check the camera's motors by bypassing the batteries with an AC/DC benchtop power supply. Wow - really expensive and time-consuming = complete stripdown and repair. Depending on the camera make, it would be your decision whether to compare repair price to camera value. If it is no longer in production meaning parts need to be cannabalized from another old non-working camera, the cost of repair would exceed the value of the camera. Look for another good used model or move on to a digital SLR camera as your tool.

503CW with leaf back

Can you shoot rear curtain flash modes?

If not, try this:

Advance the camera.
Open up the shutter(set mirror lock-up). You'll have to remove the Winder CW to do this.
Push black Tap up to open up the shutter. Don't worry, lens is still closed.
You'll not see anything from the viewfinder, just black.
Trip the shutter button.
Now, check the images.
What do you get?
Try shooting under one second in low light.
Battery is new and not over 5 years old?
