Text message memory full

Despite showing that only 194/500 messages exist in my inbox, I keep getting a message that my text memory is nearly full. I don'y understand why if the capacity is 500. I have deleted everything from my outbox/sent etc.

Mine does this as well, despite moving other files like music etc to my memory card. Anyone know why?

I have this same problem, it is saying there are 215 messages in my inbox and it is full despite saying the phone can hold 500.

My Samsung U900 keeps saying sms memory full when it has 268/500!!! wtf!?!?
And why can the card only hold 20?

  • Anonymous Mar 23, 2009

I have 176/500 and yet it still tells me that the text message inbox is full. I have asked mobile phone shops and the only reason they give is that it is because ach text message is often made up of parts (i.e. I text message = 3 parts if ity is a long message)

    BUT - I really don't know???

    Help!

Will not send text, phone is telling me memory full

Most feature phones have a very limited amount of memory on them, usually between 100-250 text messages are allowed. This means you will have to go through and delete some of your messages in your inbox. You can delete unwanted messages one by one or delete the entire inbox. The delete buttons exist in different places depending on your cell phone model.

My motorola keeps saying the text inbox is full and wont accept incomming text messages

If the text inbox is full, just go into it, & delete the old messages that you don't need to save. The phone will only save so many bits of information, before it is full, & will stop saving messages.

total SMS memory is 500 ie 200 for inbox , 200 for sentbox, 50 outbox and 50 for drafts. your my folder SMS's are still considering in inbox. that should not be more than 200.

Sms memory full del some sms

Your Inbox Only support 200 sms... And when I say Inbox it includes your My folder as well... So you see 197+ 26 beyond your range... Delete Data from my Folder.... Problem solved.

My home screen shows a flashing envelope icon even though my sim contacts memory is nowhere near full

This icon indicates that the SIM card's own text message storage is full. This doesn't actually cause problems on the 5800 because it stores its messages in the phone's own memory, but the envelope can look a bit annoying.
To get rid of the flashing envelope:

1. On the standby screen press the white menu button.

2. Select "Messaging"

3. Select "Options"

4. Select "SIM Messages"

5. Delete some or all of the messages from the SIM messages folder using the Options menu.

MY TEXT MESSAGING WONT LET ME TEXT ANYONE. IT SAYS TEXT MESSAGE FULL BUT I HAVE NO MESSAGES IN MY INBOX OR OUTBOX

Does it show signal bars on the screen and are you able to make/receive calls? If not then that is why. AT&T does not guarantee in building service. If you do have signal and it is working other than text, then check your message center number in the device:

From the standby screen, press Menu.
Press Messaging.
Scroll to and select Settings.
Scroll to and select Text Message.
Enter appropriate Message Center Number, then press Done. The message center number that should be there is +13123149810 (and the + sign does need to be in front of it)
