Honeywell thermostat - screen flashes and temp setting changes

We have a honeywell thermostat and I do not have a manual. The only numbers that I can find on it are 97-5207 REV. The screen has flashed on an off for the last 2 days. Today I went to adjust the temperature by 2 degrees since it is only going to be 8 degrees tonight. The screen changed and said that it would hold the temp at 48 or 56 degrees. The temperature numbers keep changing. I would like to find out if this means that I am in need of a new thermostat, or if there is a way to fix it or if there is potentially something wrong with my furnace? A few minutes ago, the thermostat said 68 degrees and now it says 81 degrees. Please help. Will this confuse the furnace and have it running at a higher temperature? Now it has dropped back down and says 68 degrees

Any assistance that you can offer is greatly appreciated.I just want to be sure that the furnace will keep working. .
Usually when I feel the air coming out of the vents, it is just barely warm. However, I have at least 2 vents where the air is quite hot...Is this a concern?
Thank you in advance Robyn

Hi and welcome to FixYa,

The Honeywell thermostat that you posted could very well be part of an intricate system that involves the furnace, the gas supply, a controller, ducting, vents, blowers, sensors and the thermostats as just the user interface.

While it would be easy to open up the thermostat and try to figure things out, it may be to your advantage to seek the services of an on-site technician.

An error while trying a quick fix may result in a totally inoperative heater system that would of course be detrimental to you.

Good luck and Thank you for using FixYa.

If it is a battery model, to reset, remove the battery.

I see if I can find a manual.

Time and vacation symbol flash-all buttons non responsive - how do I fix

Hello there,

Are you SURE the floor temp sensor is wired correctly Page 8 of the Manual ???? It should be across 1 and 2 . if it was on the number 2 and 3 connections, this would simulate a 'remote switch' check the wiring of the floor sensor carefully in the back of the unit.

Something odd about the 'Vacation'mode' setting. You said it has no remote switch but only this 'remote switch' can disable it. by going open circuit. which sounds suspiciously like something is across pins 2 and 3

Time flashing is 'Temporary override'

Read page 16 AND 17 (flashing as you say) of the user manual

I bought a Honeywell RTH8500 thermostat and I can't get the temperature to go down past 75 degrees

You will need the installation book that came with the thermostat. There is a way to enter into the programming of the thermostat from the home screen. From there, you will need to find what code is the temperature settings in the manual, they are usually all 3 digit numbers. Once you find the code for the setting your looking for which is the lowest temp for the thermostat, it will have a 75 to the right of it which you can set a lower number. Sorry I do not have the manual right now to just tell you exactly how, but hope this still helps!

TH8110U1003 Touch screen thermostats. My problem is I don't have a manual to show me how to operate it. But the big problem I'm dealing with now is when I set a temp. say I set it for 75 and the house...

If your program that you have programed into the stat is set to 73 it will go back to that setting if the stat is in the program mode....... Push the HOLD button on the stat and keep pushing it till it say permanent HOLD right above the buttons on the bottom and then you can set your temp to what you want. Here is a download link for the manual from Honeywell..

Honeywell RTH2310 thermostat temp variance

Hi,
Yes you can change that by change the number of cycles per hour that your t-stat looks from for youe furnace. Lower the cycles per hour number and it will increase the range.

You can see how to do it here

Honeywell deluxe programmable thermostat 69-1402m

Solution #2 as above worked (thank you very much!) to get to the programming mode, but on mine keeping Function #13 on the default setting of "0" maintained the AIR.  Toggling the Temp button to "1" changed the system to conventional on/off at the programmed times.
