Compaq d530 wont turn on

i bought a refurb d530 and when it arrived it won't turn on, i get a red light flashing three times on th front by the switch then it pauses and when i press the button to switch it on the green light comes on as long as i hold the button in but nothing else happens, is this a power problem or is the mother board doa? please help it was a christmas present.

I have the same problem but I think it is a PSU problem because the auxilliary fans for both the PSU and the Processor are not even turning on when I turn on the PC. There is a green light on the mobo. Where can I get a replacement PSU and how much could it be?

According to the HP website, your processor is not properly installed. It says to make sure your processor is properly seated. Good luck!

I don't completely agree, this could be a number of things. Check to make sure that all connections inside the case are secure. Remove the memory and re-seat it, making sure to get it all the way in. I have also seen this be a power supply problem ($40) The power supply could not be giving it enough power to run the entire system. Also check the large (20 or 24 pin) plug that goes from the power supply to the motherboard.
