If you have the recovery CD, then put that in the drive, reboot the laptop and make sure you boot to the CD. The recovery process will start up and you can restore the laptop to it's factory settings. Make sure you have all of your documents, music, etc. backed up.

Back up all of you data to an external drive before you begin the process
If you make a mistake during the process, your laptop may not be able to turn on or load the
operating system, so copy valuable information to media where you can retrieve it, even if your laptop malfunctions.

Turn on your system and wait for it to finish loading Windows and start-up programs.
You can tell when the operating system has loaded, and start-up programs have been initiated, by the HDD (hard disk drive) light.
It should have came with discs. Put one in and reboot the laptop
Insert the system disk when the hard disk light stops blinking, signaling that the processor has finished accessing the hard disk, and that the system is idle. Shut down your laptop after you insert the disc.
You do not have to wait for the computer to access data from the disc.

Turn on the laptop again. Keep pressing the "C" key continuously as the system boots. This will enable the laptop to boot from the disk. Once the disk is accessed, the laptop will show

the message "Loading Files;" begin the factory reset process by always selecting the default option that pops up.

You can also use the "F12" key to boot from the disk.
Highlight the CD/DVD option and press "Enter" to begin the restore process.

Follow the on-screen instructions until the process finishes

Restoring a Toshiba laptop back to factory settings may take 30 to 45 minutes.

Unless you terminate a process by pressing "Cancel," your laptop will be rolled back to factory defaults, when the operating system installs completely.

hope this helps

If you have a backup, you can do that, off your hard drive. Otherwise, you will need to get a replacement disk from Toshiba.

Toshiba Satellite A200 start up passwod

yes there is, you will need to get someone who can put the laptop apart for you, if you don't know how. they will need to remove the cmos batt and leave it out over night and then put it all back together the next day. that will flash your cmos back to factory settings. other then that you will need to replace the bios chip on the mainboard and that can be very hard to do

download webroot spyware program and scan for spyware in system then download registery fixer and cleaner tools as the registery gets damaged and clogged with unwanted keys then reboot if you have a exturnal hard drive save all files out and if you have got a restore dvd or cds restore back to manufacture default only if the above programs dont work as your files have been currupted in windows folder once you have done restore factory defaults and set backup all needed files and programs again then install above programs to keep things at bay. hope you can resolve this without re-installing to factury defaults.
