Check the connection the USB cable if it is okey check the status of the printer OFFLINE or READY ,it should be on ready, go to control panel view installed printer , and set as default printer.

Check that your printer settings are set correctly, and not set to print to file. Also make sure that you have the software up to date including HP solutions, as his can help you when you have problems such as this.

you will see a picture of your printer with some options below it, such as troubleshooting, updating drivers and software etc...
