Question about DVD & Blu-Ray Players

Have Toshiba SD-P91S dvd player. It always says "no valid disc" even though nothing wrong with disc. (Discs are in good shape and work on other players). Is player basically broken, or is there some software problem I can reset somehow? Thanks

I have a Toshiba SD-P91S dvd player. Watched 3 movies and now it will not load or play DVD. Is this a software problem?

My grandmother also has this device. She was able to play a dvd for while, but now it says the disc is invalid. In fact, it says all discs are invalid. I noticed that the only time the disc spins is for a short duration (1 second) when the device is turned on. It doesn't ever spin again unil a power cycle happens. I've tried many different things including resetting the device to defaults, but nothing seems to fix it.

EXACT same problem here. All discs invalid. 1 second of disc motion and then nothing. Have barely used the device.

I purchased a toshiba portable dvd player and the disc is not spinning therefore reads no valid disc. I have put in a few discs still same reading? Any suggestions?

Hello
The Sled Motor is defective. this is the motor, whic spins the disc as it has been loaded properly. If the loader mechanism loads the disc properly into place and if the catch up magnet catches the disc in place, and still the dis do not spins, replace the sled motor. OK.

My Toshiba portable dvd player says no Valid Disc

If the units under warranty you may want to contact Toshiba as it sounds your unit is in need of a replacement laser assembly.
If the unit isnt under warranty, Toshiba should be able to supply the parts you need and as long as you mark every thing that you remove, as to know where it goes when re-assembling the unit. The lasers arent difficult to replace. Good luck.

Yep sone of a gun ! With the Toshiba Portable DVD Player, hold the "Mode button" down for several seconds and it will make a chain saw noise take your finger off, hit it again once and bingo now it works. I was ready to throw this player in the trash!
