Paper jam on my Lexmark Z42

So I assume the computer is coming up with this error, Do you know whether there is paper in the printer or not that is causing this error or does the printer just think there is?

The outside panels should open up and you should see some rollers which may have paper stuck in them. Check for stuck paper or any other object and simply pull it out. Pulling paper out the way it went in won't wreck the printer.

If there isn't any object, you can try resetting the printer by unplugging it and the plugging it back in.

Let me know it neither of the above suggestions work or if you just need some more help or can provide more information on this.

thanks

Cash register won't print any receipts

Does the printer perform it's self-test ? Usually receipt printers will do this by turning-on, (or plugging-in,) the power while the [feed] button is pressed down for a second or two.

If the paper comes out, but no printing is on it, then it may be in Upside-down. Thermal paper has a coating on it that must be Up for the heat to 'burn' it.

Left side is cut off when print from email and web page

These kind of cut-off print issues are usually related to paper size. I suspect that your printer's settings are set to something different than the actual paper size being used. Check under the Advanced settings and look for paper size. It may be set to A4 or something when it should be US Letter, for example.

Please give me the name of a printer that WORKS with writing checks in Quicken using Windows Vista 64. My HP all in one does not - printer jams every time.

HP will work. The jam is a paper problem not a hardware or software issue. Try line feeds without printing. HP also makes the best printer paper so don't skimp on that. Moisture in the paper is the most common paper jam problem aside from debris getting into the rollers. If line feed fails then physically inspect the whole paper path. I have Canon, Epson, Dell, HP and Lexmark printers with Quickbooks Pro. They all work. Paper is your problem barring a banana falling into the rollers. Never leave paper in a printer for a long time as it will stick to itself. Steve

Just installed 3in 1 lexmark 3600-4600series to computer everything checked okay but does not print foom computer comand was told by lexmark texpert it points to spooler files needing updated please help...

What a mess of a question! Absolutely run some updates on your OS, look in your Administrative Tools for logs about spooling and printing, and make sure those Lexmark drivers are also the latest versions (from the web, not the CD that shipped with the printer.) Your computer is pretty irrelevant unless the error relates to something unique about it; a correct problem classification would be all about your model of Lexmark, would it not? And in particular, the way Windows XP printing fails in the manner of pretending to pass something along to print, with whatever Lexmark settings you select, but nothing comes out even when you select the device from the Start menu under Printers and FAXes, even if you set the printer to Use Printer Online, right? All clear then.

Please help, my lexmark z1300 printer begins to pull paper down as if to print but then gets all jammed and starts to rip. I've checked paper and I couldnt get it in there any straighter.what do I do?

Re-check the paper feeder for anything small that might be stuck in the path of the paper,if the printer is not heavy try turning it upside down and giving it a good shake see if any obstacles will fall out.If not u might have to check the colaboration of the mechanism to see wheher its working as it should.
