I just bought a used sony wega tv and it plays great except that the red flashing timer light is on when I turn and flashes. After a while of playing the tv just goes off. I went on the menu and clicked on the timer and clicked off both but the tv still clicks off after awhile. What could be wrong?

Well, I have found out that the number of red light blinks is a "blink code" that indicates the nature of the fault with the TV. Usually these are various failures of internal fuses or circuit boards. There's a fair amount of information on threads at techlore.com on this, so try searching there. Teh specific codes and manuals are usually it seems under license from Sony and not available for free to the public. Sorry!
Sony tv's have a myriad of problems that prohibit the High Voltage from activating. The flashing red
light indicates the standby circuits are functioning correctly. You problem lies in the H>V section.A shorted horizontal output transistor or
even poor connections on the horizontal drive transformer could cause this problem. To properly
diagonose this problem,it must go to a service facility that is familiar with Sony servicing.
Usually Sony repairs are not cheap. It is imperative that only Sony original parts are used.
