Open the task manger
select view
select CPU
choose a graphic for the CPU
if you have dual CPU, you need a setup for each CPU.

as far as OS serial key. the windows Xp or newer OS detect the machine model. (manufacture embedded the comparability hardware serial.) then you can just activate the OS online.
THe older machine must have a legal copy of the OS. activation is not possible if the OS is counterfeit.

After I press ctrl alt del, and choose to start windows task manager, nothing happened

I would run a system repair on Vista.
Look up 'repair' under the Help option.

Ctrl+Alt+Del doesn't display task manager

hi!

welcome to Fixya,

you have a virus that name brontox if I'm not mistaken.

update or upgrade your anti virus. and free upgraded anti virus can help, like AVG 8.0

but your have big problem because when the anti virus trigger the dos mode it will automatically shut down your PC. like when you open your task manager or run the command prompt. so try this thing out and what happen.
