Question about Computers & Internet
Ok if it's not working whatsoever, you can use Firmware to try and reset the drive back to Factory Default Settings.
You'll have to read through the page first, as there is some possible risk of it failing to solve problem, and if it's not already, Kill the drive totally.
Anyway, I've flashed various drives that have had the same problems, and successfully restored the Writer back to it's original state, so if it looks deadish to you, then you may aswell go ahead and try the firmware, as if you send it to get it repaired it would cost you an arm and a leg, just so that some engineer can do the same thing, and you could of ended up buying something like a Pioneer 20x DVD-RW for less then 15 quid Brand New if you know where to look.
Anyway here's the link :-)
Scroll down to the "Download" Section, then fownload the Win32 GUI v1.45 release.

a 6ya expert can help you resolve that issue over the phone in a minute or two.
best thing about this new service is that you are never placed on hold and get to talk to real repairmen in the US.
the service is completely free and covers almost anything you can think of (from cars to computers, handyman, and even drones).
click here to download the app (for users in the US for now) and get all the help you need.
