Re: turn on computer-wouldn't boot
This beeping sound is usually due to the ram, either it is bad or dirty. Get somebody to check it or open the case and remove the ram, clean it with a dry cloth and reseat it back. If you cleaned it and it still is doing the same thing, then the ram may be faulty and will need to be replaced.

Turn on a working computer with its keyboard plugged in and test if the keyboard is working properly.
If it is, shut down that computer, unplug the keyboard and plug it into the system that is suffering from the missing "NTOSKRNL.EXE" file.
Turn on the system to see if the replaced keyboard resolves the problem.
Press the "F8" key right after the system initializes the boot sequence and before the Windows logo shows up to bring up a menu of boot options.
Choose the "Last Known Good Configuration" option with the arrow keys and press the "Enter" key.
Insert your Microsoft Windows installation disc.
Restart the computer and press the "R" key on your keyboard once you reach the "Microsoft Setup" menu.
Choose the operating system that you wish to repair, type in your admin password when prompted and press the "Enter" key.
Type "bootcfg /rebuild" and press the "Enter" key to rebuild the Windows "boot.ini" file, which may also resolve the issue.
Type "chkdsk /r" and press the "Enter" key to scan the entire hard disk for errors.
Type "exit" and press the "Enter" key to exit the "Recovery Console."
Restart your computer and see if Windows boots properly.
If your desktop computer turns itself off as soon as you turn it on, then it suggests that you have got a hardware problem of some sort and you will need to try to isolate what the problem is being caused by.
If you are happy to open the computer case and work inside it, then disconnect the power, open the case and start by removing any adapter cards you may have installed, i.e. sound card, network card, modem card etc.
Test the computer power on and see if it stays on for longer or not.
If the problem remains, then continue removing any components that can be removed while still allowing the computer to boot until you have got to the minimum possible hardware configuration, i.e. you just have the motherboard, processor, power supply and a single memory chip installed.
If the problem still remains, then one of the remaining components is at fault and you would need to replace each one in turn to determine which it is.
One bad lead can cause a computer to continue on a cycle or to shutdown or fail to detect your hard drive Test the leads that attach to your ((hard drive from the motherboard)) or replace all the leads that attach to your hard drive including electrical extensions + IDE,SATA and the ones that attach from your ((motherboard to hard drive)) make sure all leads that are attached to your drives dvd\cd 3 1/2 inch floppy have secure connections and are not faulty even the electrical extensions or just replace them they are probably old and faulty a computer needs its connections to have an end so any faulty leads will end up with a computer error hope this helps
First I would press (I think) F11 for the boot device. In the Dell boot menu, you will have the option of running diagnostics. Try that. You can see the Dell splash screen on startup and you can see the options letting you choose what to do. So, you can be pretty sure your CPU. motherboard, and video are OK. The next suspect might be the hard drive or the files on the hard drive. But if you don't get a "no boot device" message, it sees the hard drive. I've also experienced a booting problem if the CD goes bad. So--first run the diagnostics. Then open the case and disconnect the cable from the CD and try booting. I am assuming (perhaps incorrectly) that you have pushed F8 key after computer startup to see if you can start the computer in safe mode.
If the activity light on the front of the tower is not glowing than it can be an issue with the power supply of the PC. Try to open the tower and try to reseat the Power supply cables and check.
You can also try to Reseat the RAM (memory) sticks. If you have 2 Memory stick you can just try to boot the pc with the help of one stick and vice versa. If still the issue persist you can try to do a test on the Motherboard. Simply take out the Memory cards and power on the pc . if you hear a beeping noise than the Motherboard is fine and if you dont hear a beeping noise that it is a faulty Motherboard.
Enter the bios by pressing the f2 key as it boots.While you are there turn the num lock light on the cap lock lights and the scroll light on as well.press in sequence alt key the letter F then alt E then lastly alt B.What you did was to clear the nvram which is stored on the motherboard and reboot.The computer will re-learn the devices attached.Now if that works.Your problem is solved.If not try safe mode which will load the minimal amt of driver.If that fails unplug the data cable from the motherboard see how long this remain stable.If it does replace the hard drive.

1. What was the last time you were able to do with the laptop?
2. Have you made changes [immediately] before the issue started happening?
3. How old is the PC?
4. What are its specifications (ie.CPU speed, memory type and size, OS, etc.)
5. Have you experienced this same problem before using the same computer, or on another computer?
Well, here's a shot in the dark. If the unit is, say more than 5 years old, it's probably a hardware defect. Meaning your unit's screen display data connection is already out of order. This usually happends to laptops with data connections too compactly embedded between the hinge of the laptop lid and chassis.
