Re: no picture

The lamp (23311083A) would be the most likely problem. I found the lamp on for about $180.

Re: no picture

If the red light stays steady, and the green light blinks 9 times then repeats, it is most likely the lamp #23311083A about $200. Otherwise, if a cooling fan is not working, it could possibly cause a shutdown problem. You can't always tell a bulb is bad by looking at it. Another possibility is the lamp ballast, but I would try a new bulb first.

Look to see if lamp is shattered inside or if it even comes on for a few moments at turn on.

Suspects are:

Lamp Ballast

Dirty fans and dirt on air channels in the set.

We have a samsung DLP tv model number HLP 4663W tv. The picture went so we replaced the bulb. Still no picture and the tv makes a noise that sounds like a fan and the tv cycles on and off by itself. ...

Yes, almost certainly a bad color wheel, see attached photo.

If you remove the lamp and look in the direction it faces you should be able to see the wheel, look for it to be missing pieces or shattered.

You Tube has detailed video instructions for replacement in most of the Samsung sets; I have replaced dozens of the wheels.

Hi,it could be that the filement inside the bulb shattered and that's why you hear that rattling noise. But it could also be the color wheel which is a disc looking that has a gamma of colors and spins and very high rpm. When its bad or shattered you will hear a high pitch sound or crackling sound.I will recommend to take out the lamp and look at it to see if its blown,if its not the next step will be to take a look at the color wheel. Here's how : Good luck and God bless your house!

No picture, lamp checks out as good.

You can not look at a lamp and tell that it is good or bad, unless of course it is shattered, some of them look just fine but are blown. If your lamp light is on I would suggest you change it and see what happens.

No sound or picture

the most likely cause would be the lamp, you can pull it out and check. most of the time when the lamp blows the center of the lamp will shatter

I own a 52" Philips DLP television and have sound but no picture

I would check to see if the lamp door is properly seated. These units will not operate without the lamp door in place or improperly seated.

Loud pop and picture went out.I have sound but no picture.

I had this happen a few months ago. More than likely the color wheel died. I opened up the back of my Samsung DLP expecting to find a blown lamp, but came to find out that only the color wheel was in need of replacement.
