Upgraded Windows Vista Home Premium with Vista Ultimate and now Mobile Device Center recognizes my HP iPAQ rx1950 but Media Player does not recognize it and tells me to connect a device.

I tried to download ActiveSync 4.5 but it cannot load when the computer operating system is Vista (in my case, Ultimate).

the only thing that I can get to sync is Media Center that don't do any good for me. Vista mobile section just does not do the trick. Cannot download active sync 4.5 as it is not for vista so the computer won't let me download

I cannot access windows vista to sync with my hp 6310 ipaq

Greetings - I'm going to guess that perhaps you installed Activesync 4.5, For Vista or Windows 7 you have to install Windows Mobile Device Center which is available HERE.

If you are using mobile device center that isn't the problem and Microsoft has a dedicated section of their website dedicated to solutions syncing Windows Mobile device with Vista, way too much for me to go over here. There's a great deal of trouble shooting information about sync problems HERE.

Thanks for using Fix Ya

Vista RAM usage ?

The minimum recommended ram for Vista is 1 GB, generally accepted practical minimum is 2 GB. A 1 GB system will be kinda laggy. Maximum RAM for 32 bit Vista is 4 GB.

Vista Home Premium is roughly equivalent to Windows XP Media Center Edition (Has Media Center, cann't be put on a DOMAIN type network)

Vista Business is roughly equivalent to Windows XP Professional (Can Join a Domain, Doesn't have Media Center)

Vista Ultimate has all available freatures of Vista, you can do any windows function with Ultimate

The product key on the label on the bottom of the laptop will only work for the version of Windows that was installed on that laptop.
You can purchase an upgrade Windows Vista Ultimate and to use in conjunction with the existing Vista Home Premium.

Media Center file types

Yes, file extensions, .gif, .bitmap, .jpg are case sensitive. Just like if you tried to save a word document as .DOC then the file would look like test.DOC.doc. Change case and it will be fine.

With Vista, there has been a change from Activesync to Windows Mobile Device Center (WMDC) which does the same thing that activesync does.

You need to download and install WMDC and then you should be able to sync.

there is no problems about your system. Its maybe your systems is lack media "codecs" that enhance your DVD files or Movies to play. maybe you should download any HD dvd codecs and install to your system. or may search google the "media player classic" and use as your player or VLC player preety cool player for almost movies.
