Bobbin Case Popping Out

I have a brand new Singer 7422 that I just took out of the box today.

I can thread the machine fine but once I start to sew the bobbin case dislodges. I have tried taking the plate off and repositioning it and manualing turning it, and it works fine, but once I put it all back together it does the same thing.

I was having this issue with my singer precision .. after MANY hours of troubleshooting, it seems I've resolved the problem. I'm not sure where exactly yours is getting caught up but with mine it was looking at the left of the needle, where it loops with the upper thread, its a sort of L shaped thingy ;) it would was not passing over the leg, getting stuck, which then pulled the bobbin case loose and created a mess. what I ended up doing is loosing the screw that holds the piece in place, I was thinking if I could push it slightly up it would make it easier for the loop to happen... it did not move very much at all, but apparently it did the trick, I'm back to sewing. :) I can try to send pics if u'd like, just let me know. Luck!

I had the same problem with my singer 20u professional. I tried to find the answer here but no help but I made a call & she said the bobbing might be too big fer the bobbing holder. the bobbing holder is the round metle thing that fits in ure machine. u have to make sure the bobbing ( the thang that holds the thread is the exact same size as the bobbing holder. Hope this helps.

Top thread will not pick up bobbin thread on my model 7422

try a new needle--make sure it's the right needle for the fabric
being sewed.
try rethreading the machine top and bobbin --make sure to use
every thread guide
try a different bobbin
it's also possible that the machine could have a timing problem
and needs to be checked

I bought a #7442 last Christmas and have not had a chance to use it until now. BRAND NEW, w/Carry Box and all. Anyway, my husband and I have spent ALL DAY trying to get it to work! We watched the DVD 5...

Not sure what brand of machine you have but generally after threading the bobbin the thread should be pulled out through a spring like device and by pulling on this thread and holding the bobbin case loosely in your hand, the bobbin case should turn clockwise inside the case. Clockwise is essential.
Then turn the machine by slowly by hand and let the needle go down and up once. Then pull up the end of the needle thread which should then lift the bobbin thread with it. Pull both through the back of the presser foot and start to sew. I hope.

Bobbin case pops out wehen sewing.

The case probably has a scratch or a burr on it. Take it out of the machine and examine it for burrs or scratches. If you find some they can be removed with an emeryboard and then buffed with an SOS pad to make it very smooth.
When you put it back in the machine, thread the machine and sew by turning the wheel a few times before you actually begin sewing for real.

My Singer 7422 seems to be jammed. When I start to make a stitch, the thread from the needle gets caught on something on the bottom and the thread goes over the bobbin.

Bobbin case turns in its place

You need to remove the needle plate and take out the bobbin case. Examine it for any rough spots, scratches or burrs. When you find them, you will need to remove them with an emery stick and then buff it with very fine steel wool. Reinstall the bobbin case and the needle plate. Put the bobbin in the machine so that it turns counter clockwise when you pull the thread. Rethread the top of the machine and change the needle. Hold the needle thread , turn the handwheel and see if the bobbin thread is picked up without snagging anyplace. If it's okay, sew away.

Singer 7422 bobbin thread bunching up

I assume you checked to see there are no needle bits in the bobbin case holder.
Without looking at the machine it is difficult to diagnose the problem. It could be any one or a combination of problems, timing, needle bar height, damage to the hook and base etc.
I strongly suggest you have it looked at by a sewing machine tech.
