Sounds like you may of put the Laptop into Sleep or Hibernation Mode. If you have a User Manual for your Machine, then have a look on how to Activate/Deactivate Sleep/Hibernation Mode, as it's usually a combination of keys. If you have not got a manual, then let me know the Model Number of your Macjhine and I'll get it for you :-).
