You could purchase a USB cable for your Palm from your local office supply store: Office Depot, OfficeMax etc.
You can download the Palm software from www.palm.com. Select your model and your OS.

If I could be of further assistance, let me know. If this helps or solves the issue, please rate it.
Thanks, Joe

Bought TX but have no desktop software cd

HI,
Yes if you go to palm.com you will find a section for support. You can download everything you need there to get your PDA up and running. Once you have the software installed on your computer you will want to go in and enter all your information like names and addresses in your contact section. Once you have that all done you connect the PDA to the computer by using the usb cord and then hit HotSync. You can go back later and update any of your infomation right in the PDA itself. Best wishes. Let me know if you need any other help with this.

Palm z22 USB won't stay connected

Hi, I also had the same problem exactly the way you described it. What worked for me is putting in the original installation cd that came with the palm. Run the installation and I think the computer will recognize the palm and stay connected. Hope it works.

I had a TREO650 and have replaced it with a Treo700wx. I want to have the Palm Desktop information on my new phone.

With this method of upgrading your handheld, you'll transfer all PIM¹ data from your existing user name to your new handheld with the same user name. You will also transfer all third-party applications to your new handheld. Caution: Some third-party applications may not be compatible with your new handheld. Your handheld will crash, freeze or display an error when these third-party applications conflict with your new handheld. If you notice performance issues or problems after transferring third-party software to your handheld, follow our steps for diagnosing third-party software issues.
  1. You must install the version of Palm Desktop and HotSync Manager included on the CD-ROM with your new handheld, even if you already have an earlier installation on your computer, and even if you will synchronize with Microsoft Outlook. This ensures that the desktop components of any new handheld features are added.
  2. Put the new handheld's CD-ROM² in the CD-ROM drive.
    4e953be.gif
  3. Follow the installation instructions that appear.
  4. When prompted, select the existing username of your old handheld.
  5. During installation, you will be asked to perform a HotSync operation. Use the same existing username as above.
  6. Once installation is complete, your PIM¹ data and third-party applications will be transferred to your new handheld. Your new handheld will have the same name as your old handheld.
  7. To avoid confusion, change the name on your old handheld once you're sure that you have all your data transferred to your satisfaction. If you're going to sell or give it away, you may wish to perform a hard reset to erase all your personal data.
  8. With this method, you have a greater likelihood of encountering third-party application incompatibilities. If you notice performance issues or problems after transferring third-party software to your handheld, follow our steps for diagnosing third-party software issues.

CD and Vista

I suggest you create a dual boot situation with your computer, so it will run either XP or Vista. Most computer books will tell you how to set this up (not difficult). As for the software installation CD--check Ebay. People sell them often, whether originals or copies.

Switch from outlook to palm desktop

Remember to change (HotSync, Custom) settings before you perform your sync or else you will get duplicate records as I did. Good luck. Support Knowledge Library Click here to go back Click here to print Solution ID: 25263 Switching between Outlook and Palm Desktop synchronization Depending on your device, you might be synchronizing with Outlook using the Palm™ Outlook Conduits, or PocketMirror conduits from Chapura (find out which). Both of these types of conduits are installed and activated when you run the CD-ROM that came with your device. What do you want to learn about? * Switching synchronization: Palm Outlook Conduits * Switching synchronization: PocketMirror Conduits * Synchronizing partially with Palm Desktop, partially with Outlook * Note about data transfer * Macintosh information * Multiple users on the same desktop computer Switching synchronization: Palm Outlook Conduits These instructions apply to the Palm Outlook Conduits that are included with handhelds released after late 2003. The Palm Desktop installer determines which conduits are activated during the installation process. If you want to switch synchronization from Palm Desktop to Outlook, or vice versa, you'll need the original CD-ROM that came with your handheld. 1. Insert the CD-ROM into your computer. A window should open, containing the contents of the CD-ROM. 2. From the Discover Your Handheld screen, select "Install Microsoft Outlook Conduits" or "Change synchronization method" (depending on which device you have) 3. Follow the instructions for switching synchroniztion from or to Palm Desktop or Outlook. 4. See our note about data transfer Remember: Some applications will continue to synchronize with Palm Desktop. Use Palm Desktop to manage applications such as Photos and VoiceMemo

Change hotsync

Changing back to Palm Desktop Software from Outlook with Tungsten E 1 Place the Installation CD that came along with your handheld onto your cd-rom. Wait for it to load after which you’ll see a splash screen with different menus. Note: If the cd does not automatically load, double click on my computer then click on the cd-rom drive icon and finally click on the first icon (looks like a cd) labeled ‘autorun’ 2. Select ‘Install Microsoft Outlook Conduits’ 3. Click on ‘Install’ 4. Click on ‘Yes’ 5. Click on ‘Yes” 6. Click on ‘Ok’ 7. Click on ‘Back’ 8. Click on ‘Exit’
