My Philips GoGear Raga 2GB is not working properly. Its earfone jack socket is causing some problems, it doesnt give proper sound now!

The fault could be the earphone, check the earphone in a different device/player, if the fault still appears the the earphone is faulty, probably a broken wire in the cord.
If the earphone is OK then the earphone socket in the MP3 player is faulty. If may be too expensive to repair, unless you can DIY.

that happens with me too.. i dont know a fix for it really but i know the cause, its caused by a language support plugin not being in the player (in my case japanese) if your files arent english i can understand, as for the player not being able to delete files try getting the software from the philips site and formatting it, the stupid thing did the same to me.. and the software gave me all the needed updates =)

My mp3 doesnt play music properly

This is caused by the ground connection from the earphone socket not making contact with the main PCB.

This can be repaired by anyone competent with a soldering iron.

The four contacts on the earphone socket need to be re-soldered.

Sounds like the ground connection (-ve) to the earphone socket is broken.

When you plug in the earphones, they ground through the control section on the board. Poor sound is another sympton of this problem.

If you have any soldering experience, dismantle the player, and re-solder the 4 connections to the headphone socket.

The symptoms you describe are caused by a break in the earphone socket ground connection.

If you are confident enough, dismantle the player and re-solder the 4 connections to the earphone socket.
