Hello,
If you open your "printer's and faxes" folder you can right click on the printer and select "use printer online". Another thing that you want to do is make sure that the printer is ready and no alarm lights or messages are showing.

I hope you find this information helpful.

Why the offline message

Hi,
Check the status of the printer at Control Panel. Set it to online if it's shown as offline. If this doesn't fix the problem, check whether installing the vista driver available at your printer manufacturer's website helps.

Step 1:
a. Click Start, go to Control Panel and select Hardware and Sound.
b. Click Printer.
c. If the Printer is offline, it shows "Offline" status. If the Printer is online it shows "Ready".
d. If the Printer is offline, set it to online.
e. Right-click on the printer and select "Use Printer Online".
f. The display should change to ready when the printer is set to online.

Hi,
Check whether the ink cartridges are properly installed. If installed incorrectly they can cause the printer to go offline.Install them correctly.

Printer showing Offline status

hi

  • Open the Start menu and click on the "Printers and Faxes" icon. This will open a window with a list of the printers currently set up on your computer.
  • Step 2 Double-click on the icon of the printer you want to change to online. A pop-up window detailing all current print jobs will open.
  • Step 3 Go to Printer in the menu bar of the pop-up window and uncheck "Use Printer Offline." This action will change the printer from offline to online.

HP Deskjet F4180 colour lights flashing and printer offline

Hi I have exactly the same problem, and can't scan or make copies. I went to HP Online, and tried their advice, which didn't work. http://h10025.www1.hp.com/ewfrf/wc/document?docname=c00867129&lc=en&dlc=en&cc=us&product=3177566&rule=25623〈=enHP's solution made me realise it might be a scanner problem. I made a wild guess and kept the cover above the glass panel open. Turn off your printer, lift the cover up and turn on again. The lights should stop blinking and you should be able to scan/copy/print. I guess the cover prohibits the device to scan properly causing the blinking lights. Hope this helps!
