I-INC CY199D lcd monitors will not turn on

I have 2 CY199D monitors. About a month ago unit 1 would not come on and the blue power lamp flashed from off then amber then blue in some sequence. Pressing the power button has not effect, won't go on or off. The screen is completely dark with no sign of life. I called for support but I-Inc , now called Hanspree (or something like that) said they though the board was probably defective and the part is 1/3 of the unit cost. It was 1 month out of guarantee. They said that there is nothing that can be done to reset the unit without the display up.
OK a bad unit. Today unit 2, which is less than 2 years old and also out of guarantee, did the same thing. I turned the monitor off because I have been away and when I turned the system on I forgot to turn on the monitor. The computer was up when I turned on the monitor but the display did not light up and now the power button no longer functions and the lamp does the same thing. I tried disconnecting the power for a while but to no avail.
I was not present when the first monitor quit but I suspect that the sequence was the same.
Anyone have any suggestions besides throwing the monitors away and staying away fron I-Inc? I experienced exactly the same thing 10 months after buying the monitor. Came back from being out of town, powered up my computer and the LED indicator changes from amber to blue and the screen is blank. Tried the monitor on several computers and all were the same result. Others who have experienced this indicate it is a firm ware update. If someone has the updated EEPROM there are EPROM burners out there that can copy the program to a new EEPROM. The company where I worked some years ago had one, they are pretty common.

    I have the same monitor and yesterday morning it was working fine. Turned the computer off and when I turned it on later in the day, the monitor remained black. I just hate throwing this stuff out but repairs often cost nearly the same as a new whatever.

    I had this when I first bought the two monitors. I sent one back for warranty repair and it came back. I have had them for about two years now and today one of the two crashed.

    I have the same monitor problem which is about 18 months old. I have two other different brand monitors and both are still in great working order after several years old. I took this I-Inc monitor apart and found the mainboard was out of order. It has no burnt out electronic components found and more likely is the EEPROM problem for the reason the power switch has no effect because it is controlled by the mainboard. I-inc refused to sell the mainboard separately. Can anyone tell me where to a new mainboard for this CY199DP or how to change that EEPROM.

    Between home and work I've bought five of these 19" I-Inc LCD's and now I've had three of them fail with this exact problem. Good deal or not, I will never buy anything from I-Inc again.

I have sucessfully repaired three I-Inc CY199D monitors which all had the same problem.
The monitors program is stored in a 24LC16B which is a 16K serial EEPROM in a SO8 package.
The bad part is you have to remove this eeprom to program it as it is write protected on the board and you will need a serial EEPROM programmer and an uncorupted program I have all the above.
If there is enough interest I could offer preprogrammed EEPROMS or a repair service for the graphics card..

    I solved the problem by just changing the eeprom from one 7 inch screen and it worked straight away.. so I think there is not data in the eeprom for the screen to switch on it rather saves all your settings to it.. so a fresh eeprom might work as well..I'll change to a new eeprom and test again

Adrian- how do i get in touch with you for your help with my CY199D eeprom? how much would you charge and how do we get this handled and do you still'hav the the ability to reflash the eeprom's?

It's probably the screen panel on it's way out.

Saving things in the WYSE WY-150


As far as i know the monitor can do very little and internal storage capacity is not big at all.

Make sure that the video card (if you have one) is firmly inserted into its slot.
Make sure that the connector from the monitor is firmly plugged into the CORRECT video slot on your back panel... Your video card may support more than one monitor and you may have it in the non default port.
Also make sure that the video driver is up to date or even installed.

As much as I hate to say it, there is also the possibility that the monitor is bad.

Monitor goes blank randomly

It is the capacitor on the power to the monitor. I have replaced about 5 so for. The capacitor is like 69 cents. Open it up and look at the circuit board where the power plugs into and see if any capacitor are bubbled up. If so then its a bad capacitor.

3350 power connector specs

The Pin Assignment is as follows:
Pin 1,4: +5V
Pin 2,3: not connected
Shield: Ground
The AC Adaptor is specified as 5V , 4Ampere. Actually the unit draws around 2-3 Amperes.

This "Image" shows the pins, when you look onto the jack at the back side of the terminal, with the terminal standing upright. The label = 5V is located left of the jack

WYSE S10 Power up problem

Replacing C38 will fix the problem. It's a Lytics SMD Capacitor 47uF/10.3V.

No display in monitor

This may be the problem with the WYSE driver. Ensure that correct driver is intalled and colour profile is compitable. Syncmaster is auto detected by window based OS.the message "Sync out of range" comes due to improper out put video signal.

Blue Screen of Death

If it narrows it down for you, Trident 3D is the graphics display your motherboard uses, and must have a driver issue or conflict with your monitors drivers, check in device manager for your monitor type to see if it's recognised.
