I had a similar problem with mine although it is a different model #. I fixed mine by removing a small plastic basket looking thing in the middle of the stainless steel screen looking drain. Just turn it counter-clockwise and lift it out. Mine was almost completely plugged with lime build-up. There are 2 parts to this and they snap apart pretty self explanatory if you examine it. Then just scrub off lime build up with old toothbrush etc. Bail out as much of dirty water as you can and re-asemble.

Water standing at the bottom of dishwasher after cycle is complete.

Hello,

The leading cause of that is a dirty/blocked pump filter ,that is restricting the water flow into the pump. This tip i wrote covers how to disassamble the pump and clean the filter. http://www.fixya.com/support/r10292354-whirlpool_kitchenaid_kenmore_diswasher

There is always water left in the drain at the bottom of the dishwasher, which gets sprayed back on the dishes so now my glasses have material on them and it gets baked on in the dry cycle....

Hi
Dishwasher not draining issue usually occurs due to kinked drain pipe, clogged drain filter or drain pump. First make sure that the drain is not clogged and remove clogs if present. If no visible lint is present then remove the lower front access panel to check the drain filter and drain pump for any clogs, you'll need to clean the drain filter and drain pump completely. Also, check for any food pieces stuck near the pump impeller & clean the chopper assembly. Please note that dishwashers don't drain out the complete water such that heating element doesn't overheat. Hope this helps... Please post back for any further assistance.

Draining after completion of cycle

Hello,
Miele dishwashers are typical not to drain all of the water. It is the way the siphoning system is designed. You will always have a bit of standing water after cycle completion but should not be above the bottom filter. You can manually drain the dishwasher by selecting any cycle and letting it run for 30 seconds and then turn the dishwasher off. Hope this helps

I have a GE PDW 8200 Dishwasher and there is standing water in the bottom of the tube. Why is there standing water after a complete cycle?

If it is older, the pump may not be draining the machine completely. The impellers, which is what acually moves the water could be clogged with yuck and could be cleaned if you can take the machine apart. If you call the repairman, he will likely replace the pump and motor.
