Question about Samsung CLX 3160fn All-In-One Printer
I have tried to setup the scan to email on this scanner and I receive a SMTP Error meesage (No Code with it)
I tried the Server name and the IP address with the same result. I checked IP address, including Gateway, DNS, etc.
I know the SMTP works as I have other email accounts using the same SMTP. I have verified the username and password again with the same result. We are able to Scan to PC thru the network along with printing from multiple PC's.
Any help would be great...
Also make sure you have the machine plugged directly into the wall outlet...some surge protectors or multi-outlet strips won't allow sufficient power to properly boot up and run the machine !

The image unit can be reset.
This is done by use of a small program that Xerox certified engineers use. The process is really simple and only takes about 30 secs, if you have access to the program ( I do... :) ) It can also be used to reset transfer belt life etc ....

I've just discovered that Ricoh's built in software only works if your SMTP server sends out without picking up password or authentication.
Having same issue and it worked fine when it was behind corporate firewall with the same connection settings (IP address) as the SMTP server.
Once I changed web hosting - it won't recognize the SMTP server or any authentication methods. According to IKON (Ricoh support for the USA) - your SMTP server has to have "relay exception"

SOURCE: How do you reset image
1. Enter Service Mode by pressing [MENU] [#]    
2. If you do not see the Tech Mode menu press the menu button again. (You need to enter the key sequence quickly.)
3. Select Tech Menu
4. Select DataSetup
5. Arrow to Clear Counts and press Enter
6. Enter Password 1934
7. Arrow to desired counter and press Enter.
The display will show Clearing Counts and then return you to the Tech Menu. Press exit several times to exit the Tech Menu and then power cycle the printer.

Model AR-M257 - I have several Sharp MFP devices at different locations and
all are set up to scan through our email server using a special account I have
just for this purpose. I have all of
them setup using the external IP address of our Exchange server (not its name
or FQDN) and I have firewall rules setup to allow SMTP from the WAN IP
addresses of our different offices to the LAN IP address of the Exchange server. It worked at all the others but this
one. I was getting the following error
when trying to send a status message (under Log) from the device to my email
account as a test: [error 973] incorrect
format for primary smtp server. And when
I tried to scan through our email server I would get "network error". However, a connection test succeeded. I had everything set correctly for SMTP and
DNS but as I was trying anything I could to get it working I went to mDNS under
Services and it was enabled. I disabled
it and then I could get a status message to be sent to me and we could send a
scan through our email server.
