Older aftermarket alarms can be a real problem. The best thing to do is completely remove it from your car. This isn't too hard, it just takes a little time, I usually charge 1 hour to do it. Locate and remove the control units and disconnect all wires tied into the factory harnesses. Wrap up any exposed wires with electrical tape and reattach any cut wires and wrap up. Take everything out, siren, wires, etc and you will be better off.
If it is connected to the factory's plugs on the harness, just unplug it.If it is attached on each wire separately:Take off the battery's positive terminal.Start from the alarm's module and follow each one wire to where it is attached on the harness and remove it using duct tape to cover up the "wounded" OEM wire.If you come accross with a cut OEM wire connected to the alarm's wire, find the other part of the cut OEM wire (same color) usually next to it and connect them back together using some soldering lead and duct tape.
YES!... with various system operating difference. Disconnecting the alarm does not disable it.. it only silences the alarm. You will still need the Keyless Entry System Remote to RESET the alarm to start the vehicle.
There is no remote wire on these newer trucks....03 and up....u have to buy the harness....although i didnt....i have an 03 gmc sierra and just pulled the schematic and matched the wires. And there is no programming to do on an aftermarket stereo.....I work for GMC and we cant program aftermarket stereos......if u buy the right harness ...and its over $100 then everything should work just fine.....and this does not disarm ur alarm system either....mine still works fine....hope this helps
