SOURCE: Powerhead woes

I've had my Hoover S3755 for about 2 years and loved it, at least until the last couple of months when the "belt slipping off" problem started. I changed the belt and the vacuum would work for a little while then the belt would come off again. I put on a new belt again and within minutes the belt had slipped off. I took it to my local vacuum repair about 4:00 in the afternoon. By 4:45 I got a call from the repairman that he'd fixed my vacuum! What did he do? He put a different belt on it. He put a Rainbow belt on my Hoover that's thicker and doesn't have as much "give" as the Hoover belt. It's also a little bit wider than the Hoover belt. Now when the brush slows or stops at a carpet edge the belt doesn't slide off.

does your vacuum have an adjuster knob on the front? if so try raising the unit so that the brushes don't bind up on the rug and burn out the belt

Dc41animal leaves obvious tracks on beige carpet

Hi Alan, it's Jack at Dyson.

Like all Dyson upright vacuums, DC41 Animal includes a motor-driven rotating brush bar. This includes stiff nylon bristle tufts which sweep into the carpet pile, agitating out dust, grit and stubborn pet hair. This will also have the effect of raising the carpet pile where it's been trodden down from daily use - this is what causes the tracks you've noticed. You can see how DC41's brush bar and cleaner head are engineered to work in the video I've attached.

It is possible to turn off the brush bar using the silver brush control switch next to the red on/off switch. However, the brush bar is an important factor in effective carpet cleaning and we would always recommend vacuuming carpets with the brush bar turned on - with the exception of delicate carpets or rugs.

It does sound like your machine is working correctly, in the way it was designed. I hope this information is useful to you, but if you would like some further advice, please give us a call on 0800 298 0298 (UK), or 1-866-693-9766 (US).

Best wishes,

Sebo brush staying down

Sounds like the controller microchip has become disconnected. You'll need to flip the SEBO over on its side and remove the floor head - to do this, kneel on the floor and press the release button below the main front bin to unlock the floor head from the main bin area. Putting one knee on the floor head might help as the lock might be still. This pulls the floor head apart from the main bin and user handle. Once unlocked, flip the head over and undo the 4 large screws (2 at the back and 2 near the front on either side) Once the floor head has become loose, ease it off slowly and you should see the microchip board. With the bumper in front of you look to your right hand side to check that the microchip thread has not been pulled out. Check that all points are pushed in correctly 0- you should download a parts and manual diagram from SEBO UK or SEBO Germany (Sebo.de) in English. This will show you the microchip board and the microchip connectors. Once checked, reverse process, fit screws back on with the floor head cover underneath and re assemble before switching back on. Hope it helps!

Plush carpet setting on vaccuum?

Hi there, it's Jack at Dyson.

DC41 Animal's cleaner head is designed to self-adjust to different floor types - so you don't need to bend down to adjust a dial. You can see how this feature works in the video below. In addition to this, next to the red on/off switch you'll see a silver brush control switch, which allows you to turn off the brush bar for hard floors and delicate carpeting.

Carpet manufacturers sometimes recommend vacuuming certain types of carpeting with the brush bar turned off - we'd suggest checking directly with the manufacturer of your carpets to ensure you're cleaning them correctly.

If you'd like any further advice on using your DC41 Animal, please email us at askdysonUS@dyson.com and one of our experts will be in touch as soon as possible.

Best wishes,

Jack

How do I disassemble a Dyson floor tool/head please? (The duel one for hard floor & carpets)

Start by turning the head over. I have marked the 3 points you need to undo to take off the base plate. Simply twist the 2 knobs and slide other catch in the centre of the head. The base plate should now lift off quite easily.

Have a good look in the spot where I have marked it is very common for dirt and fluff to stick to the sides of the rubber part in the middle. This can reduce the suction at the head and reduse cleaning effiency.

Now you have to pull the brushes out to the sides, they should come off easily. Clean really well around the shaft pay particular attention to any hair wound around the small gap marked. Anything caught here gradually works it's way to the bearing which sits just inside the housing here. If the bearing gets worn you have to replace the entire head as there are no spare parts for this tool. :(

DO NOT try and put a lubricant on the shaft, it will work for a short time but in the longer term it will only attract dust to the bearing.

This part is easy, just tap out the the dirt from inside the brushes. If you have another vacuum handy this will work well too. An air compressor will do the best job but make sure you direct it away from yourself.

Give the base plate a basic clean, there is normally not a lot of stuff here but if you get dirt caught around the edges it can affect haw well the plate seals to the rest of the head. One thing to take particular not of is the rubber seal that goes around the edge. It often gets dislodged, just poke it back in or if you have gasket adhesive put a small amount in the groove to hold it in place.

Now check the filter on the side. You only have to give it a wipe with your finger or a dry cloth to keep it clean.
There you have it all done. Simply pop the brushes back on making sure you put them on the side they came off. There is a little arrow marked on the brushes and centre of the head if you forget. Then put the baseplate back on and fix the catches back in place.
If you do this every month or two your turbine head will spin at max speed all the time and last longer too!.,
Hope this helped you and feel free to leave a comment, I love feedback

sounds like the belt is not on correctly on the beater brush or the belt is worned out now for the suction check filters or bags that need to be empty or clean

Dyson power head stops when on carpets, cleaned brush out, still happens.

Hi its Darran at Dyson.

As the Turbine head is air driven, you may need to wash the filter and check the rest of the machine for a blockage as a loss of suction will also reduce the performance of the Turbine head.

For the full blockage procedure and filter washing instructions, please visit the Support section of our website at www.dyson.com.

Kind regards
Darran

Power head not working

There is a gray button next to the red "power on" button that powers the brush unit. If the unit has tripped the reset for some reason it must be reset. This can be done by holding the gray button down for ten seconds while the unit is not running. When you power it up after this reset, the brush unit should run.
