Question about Heating & Cooling

No Heat and I'm Cold

I have a Rheem Furnace MD: RGDG-10EAMER, S/N DF50302 F4894 9075.

When I move the thermostat for heat the induction blower operates. The igniter false to glow in 25-30 secods, but the circulation fan operates too.

This problem appears intermittent over the last week. I've noticed the two (2) green lights without an amber when all works according to plan. When the aforementioned problem appears the two green light glow and so does the amber light. The amber lights illuminates after the greens do (2-3 sec). The amber light blinks four times, then on the fifth time the blinking become more rapid.

Thanks!!!
Scott

Do you have the code reference on your furnace door? If so what does it say? The furnace has locked itself out, and we need to determine what in the world it needs..

My rheem gas furnace got red button that keeps griping what can I do.

The red button that keeps tripping is probably the rollout sensor just above the burner assembly. When this rollout starts tripping, it means your flue gasses are not being drawn out by the induction fan motor. If your furnace is a few years old, the fan blade has probably rusted out and is not moving the flue gas. You will need to get a new induction fan motor. While you are checking the induction fan motor, it is a good idea with everything torn apart to check the condition of your heat exchanger. When the induction fan blade rusts out, it is a good indicator the heat exchanger may need replacing also. So do yourself and favor and check it out for rusted out welds and the like. You will probably need an experienced hvac tech to make the furnace repair.
Hope this helps.

I have an intertherm furnace model number 901282 and it will not heat my house when i turn on the thermostat it starts but just blows out cold air pleases help

The blower should come on after ignition occurs. When the blower comes on first ignition will not be activated as the thermostat signal shows the heat is on. This happens when the blower relay is stuck in the on condition

How do you lite the pilot lite on a Rheem Gas Furnace Model #rgma-125a

If I recall correctly, model number Rheem furnace you listed has electronic ignition to light the pilot, when the home's thermostat calls for heat. Is this what you're having a problem with?

Rheem Model# RGDJ-10eamer sometimes lights and sometimes does not

Find the small tube that runs from the inducer blower. Disconnect the hose and see if there is water in it. If so then I suggest remounting the pressure switch that it is attached to a little higher and so that there is no droop in the tube for water to collect. Just shortening the tube will only allaow water in to the pressure switch. The second thing is with the tube disconnected at the inducer take a straightened paper clip and poke it in the orifice on the nipple attached to the inducer. there may be a partial blockage. Let me know what you find.

I replaced my Janitrol 7 wire thermostat with an RTH7500 which now controls my heatpump system. The switches on the Janitrol were cool - off - heat - Em Heat. Does that mean I have auxiliary heat? There is...

There should be electric heat strips in the airhandler.

They automatically come on when the unit goes into defrost, the thermostat is turned up more than 7 degrees over the indoor temp or if the outdoor temp is just so cold the HP cannot keep up.

Tat is your auxillary or emergency heat.

What does the new t-stats installers booklet say that the 0170 function and #2 #7 options are for?

If it is for gas vs elec heat then set it on the elec option.

The difference is that in gas heat systems the blower comes on a few min AFTER the furnace fires up to allow the heat exchanger to get hot.
In an electric furnace the blower has to come on emediatly because the heat strips get hot emediatly and if the blower is delayed the system will shut of in high temp overload.

How do i operate thermostat and furnace

if your furnace is on 24 hours straight, before it heats up your home, then either your cold weather and indoor temps are extreme, or your unit is grossly undersized. if however your furnace cycles on and off when the temp is still way colder than you have set it you have either a bad stat that thinks its hotter than it is, or a bad furnace problem and even though the furnace is getting a signal from the stat to heat it is failing to do so. you'll have to watch and think this through to isolate the problem. if you set the furnace to max heat and it runs and heats the house reasonably quick then its probably going to be a bad stat. if you set it to max heat and it shuts off way before it gets to setpoint then the problem is in the furnace. be sure filters are clean, blower wheel is clean , returns are no obstructed, etc. if you by chance have an old mercury bulb stat they had a thing in them called a heat anticipator which basically worked like this. a dial with a little pointer determined how soon it would be till the furnaced reached the desired temp and anticipated how soon to shut off the burners in anticipation of the cool down period so you dont overshoot the desired temp. if these are bad or moved to different setting they can short cycle the furnace on of on off etc. or shut down the burner almost as soon as it lights. setting is usually at .4 to .6 on most, but really a digital stat is only way to go. by the way check to be sure you don't have a hot air supply grill blowing directly on the stat or it will shut off as soon as stat gets hot and rest of house will be cold. usual location is 5 feet off floor directly over the main return air grill or under it as the case may be. good luck

Rheem furnaace blower stays on

On a furnace the fan is controlled by a computer and a sensor ot a oldstyle fan thermostat. Basically it waits till the furnace heats up a little and then turns it on and after it shuts off it will run till the thermostat cools back down may take a few mins. In cool mode the thermostat controls the fan so it shuts down immediatly. This is why the thermostat asks you if its electric or gas heat. Should have a switch somewhere for this.
