Power on but a blank screen? what am i not doing

If you don't get any image at all, not even the Acer screen at the start then it's a hardware defect. Simple test: connect an external monitor and try to get the image on to it. If you can then the cable that connects the scree to the motherboard is disconnected - the laptop will have to be opened, the cable checked and reseated. If you don't get any image even on it then the video chip from the motherboard has failed - the motherboard will have to be replaced and that will be expensive.

Acer aspire t135 turn power on green light comes on,no fans running turn on lcd moniter, sayes ACER then no signaig. but the cord and moniter work with laptop whatup.

if it BEEPS more then once...
pull out your mem chips and test,,
If it works then one of the mem chips are bad if not..
pull out all pci cards2_bing.gif and test.. if it works its a bad card...
if not unplug all HD and CD roms and test.......

If not kicking on yet its could be power supply, motherboard or the CPU chip

My srceen goes Blank

Hi,

first try booting the laptop and pressing the Fn key with the numerical ( numbered key ) that has a picture of 2 screens on it. This is for booting to an external monitor. you could also try adding an external ( pc monitor ) this will eliminate any motherboard Faults.

Secondly, the graphics chip driver may be corrupt or not installed correctly. if you have a restore cd, you could try booting the laptop, with the cd in the drive.

you can then try, to see if the settings in the bios are all correct, by booting/starting the laptop and pressing esc or F2 or delete immediately as the laptop starts. ** Be-Careful** what you adjust.
My suggestion is to look for. ** default settings tab** or load setup defaults.

these are the obvious things to try, before assuming that you have a faulty graphics chip or motherboard fault.

Audio Dead/silent

Hi,

If you can open CPU casing the look under the motherboard, see if you can find the Chipset of your Sound Device, it is usually start with ICON and Model Number, like ADI1987, CMI3798, something like that. And if you found it, then post the chipset model and i will be happy and glad to help you find the proper driver for it.

Hi, I have an Acer Aspire 1700 series laptop and told that the motherboard has died. Can I replace it? What options do I have and idea of cost in Australia dollars?

Hi,

Laptop motherboards are replaceable though a bit tricky putting the laptop back together.

Options would include:
1. getting in touch with Acer Australia, email>customer.service@acer.com.au, Phone: 02 8762 3000, 02 8762 3264; Fax: 02 9764 2368; Address: 5 Figtree Drive, Australia Square, Homebush Bay NSW 2127;
2. look for an online supplier such as Notebook Solutions. They do exchange repair;
3. buy a new board from eBay such as this one here;
4. send in your laptop for repair like here.

Cost probably looking at anywhere from a little less than 200 to a little more than 300 Aus$ excluding shipping.

Hope this be of initial help/idea. Pls post back how things turned up or should you need additional information.

Good luck and kind regards.

Thank you for using FixYa.
