HP Digital Media Archive Pop UP

By Webh on Feb 09, 2007

" "
I getting a repeated a pop up box called Digital Media Archive that states "The feature you are trying to use is on a network resource that is not available. Click OK to try again or enter an alternate path to a folder containing the installation package EZARC.msi in the box below" "An installation package for the product HP Digital Media Archive cannot be found. Try the installation again using a valid copy of the installatio package EZARC.msi" When I click nothing happens and the pop up continue randomly.
-I located the HP Archive inn the Add/Remove window and clicked on additional information which shows a source"HP" Clicking on this takes me to home page of Sonics and from there I can't find any reference to HP Digital Media Archive.
-I also went to HP Application Recovery and tried to find HP Digital Media Archive to reinstall it, but it is not listed. I'm not on a network and have tried to find EZARC.msi with not luck. HELP!

This is a programme that allows you to archive files probably at HP.

There must be a programme running in the back gound, a .msi is microsoft installation file, so it must be trying to install prbably when your'e on line.

Press Ctrl,Alt and Del and when the windows task manager pops up look for the ezarc.msi or .exe file in the Applications tab, if not there look at the Processes tab.

if you find it highlight and click end process.

It maybe that this programme runs allthe time so also click Start>Run then type 'msconfig'
and click the startup tab and uncheck the box if it is there.

Thank you to the person that suggested using the Task Manager. This worked!!! After two days being driven "crazy" by this error this is such a relief. I couldn't even shut down my computer when this was on my desktop. It interrupted whatever I was doing. Thank you, thank you again!!!

I tried the solution suggested by sandrew. It did not work. I gave up went to Start-Run-msconfig-startup-and then unchecked "HP Updates from HP". It got rid of the problem but it will prevent me from getting HP updates, which is a mixed blessing.

Go to START press RUN, type MSCONFIG, go to start-up tab and uncheck DMASCHEDULER, then click APPLY. Reboot your computer (not by restart button :P).

If you can't do it for some reason on your users account, boot in SAFE MODE by hitting F8 when you reboot

I too have been getting a pop-up message regarding HP DIGITAL MEDIA ARCHIVE stating "An installation package for the product HP Digital Media Archive cannot be found. Try the installation again using a valid copy of the installatio package EZARC.msi.

I went to the Control Panel, clicked Add/Remove Programs - I checked box to Show Updates. When the Programs appeared, I found HP Digital Media Archive on the list of programs in the right hand column it stated that this program was RARELY USED, so I Deleted it from the Program List.

So far I have not seen the pop-up again.

Same Problem. I found it when I went to Add/Remove Programs, but I cannot choose "delete" to get rid of HP DigitalMedia Archive. I just want it to STOP!!!!

Comment by Guest, posted on Nov 28, 2008

i think my problem started when i was trying to remove programs on control panel. i may have accidently removed HP digital. i keep having this pop up- showing me i need to install, and the pop up keeps saying it is installing, but never does. i don't know if it has anything to do with this, but my computer is also running extra slow as well.

I am having the same problem. I get a message and repeated pop-up saying there is not a valid drive and I have the a1410n PC Desktop. What is the fix?

Comment by mpugh4, posted on Jul 12, 2008

I am having the EXACT same problem, however, i did go to Sonic myDVD and typed in the .msi error and actually got a fix. I have not tried the fix yet because it involves removing and reinstalling software that I dont have a disc for (to be honest i dont even know where this error came from. I recently did an automatic "upgrade" and that is when this stuff started happening. The fix also involves refiguring some files that i am not comfortable doing so i am not very happy!
