Question about JVC KD-SX950 CD Player

1 Answer

Speakers were working but now they sound blown but there not.

I have two 12'inch subs to a JVC reciever which has a built in equalizer. They were working but now they wont, I left the room and came back and it was clicking protector. Now when they play they wont get loud and they sound blown but I dont belive they are. I plug in a 15'inch to where they were pluged in and that one works. Does the reciever know when I plug the 12's in? Why wont they work? Any ideas?

How can i test my rca output jacks with a test light? pioneer deh p3100ub. hooked up spkr, nothing. tried one rca plug to white(lt) and then red(rt). Unit has 4 rca jacks, 2 for subwfr and 2 for front...

:) the rca jacks have to be connected to an amplifier,, their signal is too lay to even light a bulb.. you have to connect it to a car amplifier and then from the amplifier to the speakers..

Just so you'd know,, once your deck plays and you hear music on your speakers through your normal speaker wires,, RCA jacks work..

Ok you have 4 jacks,, 2 subs and 2 front.. These should connect to a preamp,, which takes 4 inputs and allows you to equalize or adjust how the music should sound,, now from the pre-amp,, it runs to an amplifier,, thats powers the subs and another that powers the speakers.. Some amps have 4 inputs so you can use one amp for your subs mids and heights..

for example a basic music system is

1 cd player
1 pre amp
1 amplifier (4 inputs, 4 channel out)

you bridge 1+2 and connect this to 1 12" double coil sub woofer

the next 2 connect to 2 mid speakers example "rockford or ev 5 / 8 " and 2 tweeters for heights..

Thats a kicking tricked out basic car audio system,,,

Hope that helps you understand how it works..

By attaching amplifier with speakers and dont attach woofer there is increase in volume or not? my audiio system model no. KDR-506AND MY SPEAKER MODEL NO. 6922

No, it night seem like it because there will not be any low fequency noise from the sub to match. But, if your bass overpowers the rest of the sound you will need to put an external amp to your mids/tweets

My car subwoofer is fuzzy and crackling. Even when I play a CD. but when i unplug the sub it dosent effect the other speakers

sounds like a blown voice coil, or a bad amp.
press gently in the middle of the sub and listen for a scraping or crackling sound, if you hear it, your sub is blown.

My radio cuts out when i turn it up no sound out of my door speakers at all just my subs my subs work fine but my head unit will burn you when touched

Your problem is your ground. If you have a system move the ground wire to a better spot also remove your reciever and check to see that all the wires are taped, capped, and check to see where your ground wire is fastened to.

I hooked up my JVC-KD-G210 and worked fine all of a sudden all 4 speakers quit the amp and sub still work i even ordered a new plug for back of stereo thought it was problem and still diddnt work id like...

Your internal amplifier for the radio has failed (output IC). Probably due to a shorted speaker or speaker wire.
Repairing the unit will cost as much as another one.
You may be able to pick up a small used 2 or 4 channel amplifier instead and use the RCA signal to feed it for less than the repair cost.
You will be surprised in the sound difference between a dedicated amplifier, and the one built in the radio anyway!
The typical radio SAYS 50Wx4... however - realistically can put out 12-15Wattsx4
a small 25x4 or 50x2 amplifier can be had easily for under $50 used, and will make a tremendous difference in sound quality... without having to spend more on the radio for it to potentially fail again anyway.
A Dedicated amplifier will have a built in protection circuit that will shut down instead of blow the output ICs like your radio did.

Sound not good

could have blown the speakers or if there sub woofers ran off an amp that might be your problem as far as the cause it could be something as simple as a loose ground or some wire that is getting power grounding out on a piece of metal somewhere i would double check all of your connections
