So the sound on my laptop which is VGN-CR120E
occasionally doesnt work. When i start up my windows, it makes the entrance sound and everything but then everything else would just stop working (sound wise).
And sometimes ill get lucky and all of a sudden my sound starts working.. Why is it doing this?

Perform power cycle. Disconnect all power sources, battery and power cord. Press power button for 5 secs. Reconnect power and start unit again. Do you see VAIO? Do you enter BIOS by holding F2 as soon as you press power button? If not then its probably hardware related, i mean needs service. Otherwise if you see any of what i mentioned above try turning off and then on and pressing F8 for safe mode or repair your computer options and then try system restore from accessories menu or F10 for full recovery with data loss (Restore C drive)
Audio in this Computer Model may not work properly after installing Microsoft Windows Vista Service Pack 1 (SP1). It is required to install the BIOS Update version R0231Q0 in the Computer to fix this issue.

IMPORTANT: Before installing the BIOS Update, please make sure that the Computer is connected to AC Power. During the installation of this update, please do not turn off the Computer, do not allow the Computer to enter standby or Hibernation states, do not start other programs and do not connect any peripherals.
Please download and save the file to the Computer, after that please open the folder where the file was download and double click the file to begin the installation. Please follow the onscreen instructions to complete the installation. After the installation the Computer will restart automatically.
Installing this BIOS Update should fix the Audio issue in the Computer.

Right click on the web cam driver. 2. Click Properties 3. Click on Compatibility tab, 4. Put a check mark on Run this program in compatibility mode 5. Select the operating system as windows Vista under Privilege Level, check mark "Run this program as an administrator" 6. Click on Apply 7. Click OK.

Windows 7 requires the drivers be updated or at least compatible with Windows 7....so if Sony has not written the drivers for your machine yet, they probably won't and those devices will not work under Win-7.
If you call Sony's customer service or support line and complain to them, they may provide you with a work-around that will get them back operational again.
go conter panel and look sound setting option and correctit 2/ look speaker isnot in mute?3/look device manager sound is stall or not. if not stall yellow sign indcated not install. or dim sign in control panal indecated properly sound driver is not instaling.
