Personal Wireless Network

I do not have a wireless connection to any computer in my home or anywhere that I know. When I check to box to monitor this I get a lot of computers connected that are marked unknown. I have tried the "Do not Trust" but still show up. Should I uncheck this box? I am not very familiar with wireless networks.

You can even uninstall them through Device Manager or Network Connections if you know which Network Connections you don''t need :-). If you remove them, then they suddenly re-appear again, just go for the disable option this time by going into device manager, right clickingin on the devices, and select disable this device.

My notebook computer shows not connected with wireless?

Go to Control Panel and click Network Connections. Right click on Wireless Connections and select View Wireless Networks. You should see your wireless network listed, select it and click connect. If you do not see any wireless networks displayed, then make sure you can connect your PC to the internet with a network cable to rule out any other problems on your PC. If you are trying to connect to a home wireless router, reboot the router by disconnectng the power, wait about 30 seconds and plug it back in.

The Zero Configuration Utility built into Windows XP may vary depending on if you have installed Service Pack 1 or not.

Download Service Pack 1 here.

Step 1 Right-click on the two computer monitor icons in the system tray and select View Available Wireless Networks.

Step 2 Highlight your wireless network which is the SSID of your wireless network (if you are connecting to a D-Link router or access point it will be default) and click Connect.

Step 3 If you do not see your wireless network in the available networks box click on the Advanced button. Select Add and type in the SSID of your router or access point, uncheck this computer is connected in and ad-hoc peer-to-peer network, and then click OK.

I want to connect my other computer to a wireless router which was already set up on another computer. i dont know how to proceed.

What is the Operating system on the laptop ?
If it is XP then in the bottom right hand corner you will find Wireless network connection ( looks like 1 computer monitor). Use that icon to connect to the wireless network.
If it is windows Vista, then in the bottom right hand corner you will find 2 computer monitor icon. Use that icon to connect to the wireless network.
If it is Windows 98/ME/2000 then use the adapter utility to connect to the wireless network.
For MAC you will see the AIRPORT icon at the top.

Check the wireless settings of the router first . Make sure that yopu have all the wireless settings of the router. If you are not sure about the settings, then open the router set up and check the settings.

Try to setup home wireless network to share two home computer

Connect the home wireless network router box to the main PC through an ethernet cable with the PC powered off and the home wireless router powered off, then power on the PC & the router. Vista should locate the new wireless network and follow the windows vista network setup procedures. After the wireless network has been detected you then while the second PC's power is shut off you connect dongle adapter to the PC power on and XP will locate the new adapter. You will probably have to enter your networks pin for the connection.
Get back to me when you complete these steps.
Try next time contacting me through an online chat session. We can resolve the issue quicker while chatting together.
