Question about Linksys Wireless-G WRT54G Router

2 Answers

Wireless rounter Hi. we are having trouble with our wireless rounter. It is connected and receives the internet, as far as when you plug a hard wire connection into the router you can get the internet off that. It says the signeal strength is at full strength but the status is at limited or no conectivity. We were told that the computer was at fault but have had that one checked and have used another one at the same problem still happens. Is it something wrong with the router or can we do something else, any suggestions would be much appreciated. Thanks from BS

We decided to restart the rounter because the speed of our internet wasn't very good. However when we turned the rounter back on our wireless wasn't working anymore, and now the whole thing isn't working....

In resetting router it is like setting it back to its factory default. what you need to do is just access the GUI where you can set up the Username and password. Once done with it you may be able to connect to the internet.

Rounter is not working

Firstly please check the connections. The modem should be connected to the "Internet" port on the back of the router. And the computer can be connected to any of the 4 ports of the router. Checked the lights. They should be steady. If you have a cable connection2_bing.gif (cable modem) than you can connect directly to the internet. Else if you are using a DSL connection than you need to configure the router according.

The belkin rounter of my dad's laptop was installed without password setting. i tried to set it up on 192.168.2.1 configuration page. i was notified that the rounter will restart again itself...thereafter...

If you can still remember the password that you entered on the configuration page, follow the steps below:
1. In the lower right corner of your screen (near the time and date), right click on the wireless network connection icon, then select view available wireless networks. Or, if your wireless adapter has its own wireless utility, you should see that in the lower right corner of your screen.
2. You should see the router's wireless network name (SSID). By default, the SSID is "belkin54g". Select the SSID and it will prompt you for the network key.
3. The network key is the password that you entered on the router configuration page.

If you cannot remember the password that you entered, follow the steps below.
a. Connect your computer to the router using an ethernet cable.
b. Access the setup page by typing 192.168.2.1 in the address bar.
c. Go to Wireless -> Security. Copy the network key.
d. Then follow steps 1-4 above.

For the MAC computer:
1. From the Airport menu, select the SSID.
4. When asked for a password, enter the network key that you entered on the router.

I hope this helps!

Make sure that your computer is able to go online through the modem.
If your computer is not able to go online through the modem then you will need to call ISP first.
If your computer is able to go online through the modem
then you need to connect the computer to the router and the modem to the router.
open the set up page of the router and change the settings of the router according to the ISP.

How to unlock my wireless router

Hi Friend

I hope this will work for you. There is a RESET button on every router. Just push and hold that RESET button for 30 seconds. After that release the button and unplug the power cable from back of the router and wait for another 30 seconds. After that plug it back and wait until the power light becomes solid and steady. Now your router is unlocked.

Enjoy

Chiranjeet

Hi, I am trying to connect to home wireless (rental property) and I have all of the username, password, rounter admin login, router admin password, info..but still not working

If you're using a laptop, you may have been led to believe that you have a wireless card but actually don't. If you DO have a wireless card and it's not searching for/finding the wireless networks, you'll need to contact a local internet administrator for whatever network you're trying to access.

Connecting Dlink DI-514 with my another 3com router (wireless)

No, the router requires an Ethernet cable be plugged into the back of it to receive its Internet signal.

As far as I'm aware there are no consumer-grade routers that will pick up a wireless signal from another router and use that as the Internet source.

Sorry you didn't get the answer you were after. :-\

Linksys wireless router has many bugs: connection issues like no connection or constantly having to reset the router. It isn't compatible with many network adapters. Hope this helps!
