If I were you I would just bet a new drive. They are less than 25 bucks for a DVD rewriteable burner. Here's an example.

The belt drive unit is only ran by a SMALL rubber band. It may be that the actual band is broken or the motor itself is shot. Unplug the stereo from the wall and remove the cover CAREFULLY, look in at the tape drive and check the "RUBBER BAND" first.

Disk will notcome out

Hi Carol,

This is an educated guess but if your deck is older there are eject mechanisms on them. They are belt driven if they are stretched out or broken the disc will not eject on most of them.

Depending on age the belts which are glorified rubber bands last about 10 years or less then need replacement so my best guess is the drive band for the ejector is in pieces in your deck.

Replacement bands are available on ebay, this is not the only possibly answer to your problem but my best guess from your limited description. Note you cannot replace a broken band with an o ring or rubber band or a similar band as they will not work correctly...

I believe this one runs on a rubber band.. is band broken? (usually what goes wrong with these drives on the Roland units). If so, look for those wide rubber bands like at office depot and pop one on it..

Drive pin does not retract

Easy to fix. Remove the head and pull out the cylinder. Look for black band around lower part of cylinder. This band (check band)should be placed around series of small holes. Replace if broken with any rubber that will hold up in oil or use a bunch of orings to fill space. Good luck.

My car cd player won't play cd just keeps flashing load?

THERE MAY BE A RUBBER BAND TYPE DRIVE BELT THAT IS BROKEN OR SLIPPING. YOU WOULD HAVE TO DISMANTEL THE CD UNIT TO CHECK THIS OUT. RUBBER BAND TYPE DRIVE BELTS ARE ALSO USED ON MOST VIDEO CAMERAS , IF YOURS HAS STOPPED WORKING TAKE IT APART AND REPLACE IT TO RESTORE THE CAMERA TO WORKING CONDITION.

Hi

Issue is most likely a broken cable? between the motor and a gear that transfers the movement of the motor to the tray.

So you would have to take the cd drive apart and possibly replace the rubber band? like cable.

Turntable won't turn

Hi!

Without any other information (and assuming you've checked to make sure there is power to the turntable and that it is turned on), the likely culprit is the belt drive of your turntable. Most, but not all, turntables have a "belt" that looks like a big rubber band on the underside of the turntable that connects the turntable itself to the drive motor. If the band has slipped out of place, stretched too far from age or usage, or broken, the turntable won't turn. To find out if this is your problem, gently lift the "platter" straight up (it should easily slide back into place) and visually see if the "rubber band" is in place. If it is stretched too far or broken, a new one should be availble form Teac or your local electronics supplier. If, by chance, you have a direct-drive turntable (unlikely), the problem will probably need professional work.

Good luck and please let me know if this helps!
Bob
