Question about Sylvania 6432GG 32" TV
Hi, i just purchased an Insignia flat screen tv and hooked it up to my cable box. The first screen says "please run channel auto scan". How do I do this? Is this something on the TV remote or cable remote?
Excuse me but the other answers are written by people who have not
actually confronted the problem and are just guessing. They are all
wrong. Here's the answer:
If your TV is expecting a TV input, it will keep searching for at least one TV channel on cable or antenna. If you only have a DVD player plugged in, for example, or if your cable is hooked up wrong, so there's no video signal on it, the TV will keep searching forever. (This is an unforgivable design flaw, by the way. But then, it was a cheap TV, wasn't it?)
To solve the problem, look at your remote control. You will find input buttons. Mine are small, along the top, right under the "power" button. Try pressing "video" for example, instead of TV. That stops the TV from hunting for TV channels.

If you press the input button on the upper right side of your remote, it will give you a drop down menu. if you remember which hdmi slot you plugged your cable into, choose that and then your t.v. will work.
In my case I have a cable box that is hooked into the system. I had to turn the cable box off and then when I turned it back on viola! a beautiful picture awaited me.

If that is showing on your TV, surely your TV is not on the correct input. Check what cables you have connected at the back of your TV. If they are the RCA composite cables (red, yellow, white); your input should either be VIDEO or AV. If you're using a component cable (red, green and blue), input should be COMPONENT. And if you are using an HDMI cable, input should be HDMI. Just look for an INPUT button on your TV remote or SOURCE.

You should be able to press the ok button on the remote and then it should start doing the scan. If not then press menu on the remote and in settings the should be a auto scan.

TRYING TO TURN THE AUTO SCAN OFF BUT THERE IS NOTHING TO CUT IT OFF. ALSO, I HAVE A SALLITE BOX NOT CABLE. THE FEED SHOULD COME THROUGH BUT IT DOESN'T.

I had to set TV back to HDTV.
Press 'source' then set to HDTV, then exit by pressing 'menu.
That worked for me.

More than likely it's on your TV remote, I would consult my manual it should say how to do it.
