The release is on the part of the unit that stays in the printer. After you remove the two ink cartridges, if you look very closely (you might need a flashlight), above the decal of the circle with a finger, you will see a small tab (about 1/4" wide), just press that in slightly and you should feel the print head itself release. Now you should be able to lift the print head out.

How to install a new printhead in 5500

First you need to turn On the printer and open the printer access door where you can see the Ink. Now wait for the Printhead to stop into the middle then remove the ink cartridges both ink and black., Now to rmove the Old printhead you need to press a Tab which is hidden on the printhead., heres the step to remove the printhead which for me the hardest part

-Point your index finger on the white sticker that attached on the printhead or the bullseye sticker(If theres no white sticker on the print head just put your index finger on the middle of the printhead)

-Now your index finger is on the middle of the white sticker right? Move your index finger upward unti you feel a latch that you can press., Just press and full then your printhead wil be removed

-Now Your ready to insert your new printhead
-To insert new printhead just put the printhead on the carriage of the printer and gently press the white sticker of your new printhead make sure that you will hear a clicking sounds then put your cartridges back

-Theres some instances that the printhead will not stay on the middle., it keeps on staying on the right or on the leftside for you to solve that heres the step

-Turn on the printer open printer access door and wait for the printhead move into the center and if the printhead its on the center immediately unplug the power cable so the printhead will not move.

I need replaces the printhead

First off, remove the cartridges. There's a small button/lever up under the top of the printhead that you have to press in, its in the very center. Once you press that in, it should pop forward and allow you to pull it out. In order to replace it, just pull the old one out, pull the yellow tabs off the new one and snap it in place and put the cartridges in.

Replace printhead

With the unit turned "on" open the top access door, wait for the carriage to go to the center, remove black/col. inks then look at the part where you remove the black ink, look for the two metal contacts on the bottom part, place your index finger there then slide it all the way up until your index finger bumps to the upper part, on the upper part you will feel a button , push the button up to release the printhead.
When putting back the printhead make sure it snaps in tightly

Hello ahieser,

To remove the old printhead, you need to remove the ink cartridges first. And then remove the printhead by pushing the button at the top of the printhead while disengaging it from the carrier.
