My remote bass cable has broken

It looks like a phone cable but I can see that it has more contacts.. I can't find one anywhere. Is there a worthy replacement? It is the cable that comes with this control knob:

    Nope.... tried the 4 pin. Doesn't work and sounded like it was going to smoke the amp. I need 5 pin with phone type jack for Audiobahn bass control or similar. I think Audiobahn is no longer around. I can't find any contact info for them.

I have a Fender Deluxe Active Jazz Bass thats makes this really really loud buzzing earthy sound. It seems to happen spontaneously, in fits and starts, but particularly if the cable input on the bass is...

This sounds like either a bad guitar cable or a bad jack in the guitar. Possibly your friend is not as qualified to find these intermittent problems as needed? These jacks are really junky and often have riveting of the barrel come undone... especially if the retaining nut is overtightened. The LONG barrel like jacks are notorious for failing. You have all the information you need to solve this problem. First try a different guitar cable... (often they are broken or intermittent at the end where they flex). If that doesn't fix it, replace the jack in the guitar. Also verify that the conductive coating paint within the guitar is grounded. Sometimes the contact to it is destroyed when the volume control shafts or jacks become loose and they depend upon the shaft barrel to ground the paint.

I don't have the Bass Control Remote wire.

I have never seen one of these amps however it is probably just like the rest of the remote bass control ports out there. Just get a phone cable and cut the one end off. There will be four wires. The inside pair get tied together and soldered to the wiper of a potentiometer, the outer wires get solder to the outer legs of the potentiometer. I believe a 600 ohm pot is what i used for my phoenix gold amp. Good luck

Ask at - they have plenty Binatone user manuals and will get it for you, if they don´t have it available. Service is not free, but most times worthy.

I need a remote control bass knob and cable for a Legacy LA590 2

Most of the remote bass control knobs & connectors are the same, regardless of manufacturer. Granted there are different styles & connectors used, but just find one that's compatible with the amplifier you have. You don't state what amp you have (at least I don't see it in desc.) Send me some info & I'll get back to you tonight. Bruce McGowan

Basscube remote knob wire

funny seeing this question posted here... I worked at Phoenix Gold for 4 years, and I can help you with your problem.

when the BassCUBE was designed, the engineers didnt realize that a standard phone cable is what we call a "flipped cable", where if you were to lay the cable flat without any twists in it, on one end the connector would be tab up, and the other end would be tab down. on a standard RJ11 plug (the phone plug), the telephone requires that the pinout is as follows:

#1 - Black
#2 - Red
#3 - Green
#4 - Yellow

But the BassCUBE needs a non-flipped cable, which are hard as heck to find... so I will give you the quick easy fix.

You need a 2-line (4-wire) telephone cable that has a black, a red, a green, and a yellow wire in side it, and you will need 4 crimp caps or other way to splice the wires back together. You then need to cut the wire in half, and carefully seperate and strip each wire on each piece of the cable. Call one piece "Part A", and the other piece "Part B". Then you need to splice the cable back together as below.

Part A Part B

Black ------------------> Yellow
Red --------------------> Green
Green -----------------> Red
Yellow ----------------> Black

Once you have done this, and your SURE that your splice is good (not shorted out), then go ahead and plug your modified cable into the BassCUBE and its remote control, power it up, and you should be good to go.
