Question about GE Profile Spectra JGBP90 Gas Kitchen Range

1 Answer

Oven cleaning I have a Spectra glass top range that is several years old. I somehow lost the owners manual and am attempting to use the auto oven cleaning system. Does it automatically shut off after a certain period of time; or is there a specific time period that has to pass before the owner must shut it off?

The inside glass panel, in the oven, has a hairline crack. Is the oven still usable?

Hello ewaters56 - Honestly, I suggest contacting a professional to have the inner glass panel replaced and I do not recommend for the oven to be used.

OUR HOME WE BOUGHT CAME WITH A RANGE, BUT NO MANUAL, WHERE CAN I GET A COPY OF THE MANUAL FOR THIS RANGE?

You will need to find the model number to get a manual. http://www.geappliances.com/service_and_support/literature/ provides a search box for looking up the manuals. For GE ranges, the model number could be in several places: on the frame behind the warming or storage drawer or kickplate, on the left leg behind the warming or storage drawer or kickplate, on the frame of the oven behind the door, under the left front surface burner, or under the lift-up cook-top at the center or on the right hand side.

If you clean the oven with non-abrasive products and avoid the spray on oven cleaners, you are unlikely to damage the surfaces/range even without the manual for your range. (Use glass cleaners for glass cook-top.) Warm water mixed with a mild detergent is useful for most spills. Avoid cleaning the seal around the oven door; damaging the seal may cause major problems.

I hope this helps.

I lost my owner's manual for Spectra gas stove. How long to leave self cleaning on?

That will depend on how dirty the oven is. Times can vary from 2 to 4 hours, with an average of 3 hours. (plus cool down time)

Lost instructions - I have my oven cleaning how

Typical oven self clean cycle is 3 hours. Oven needs to cool down to under 550 degrees before door will unlock. Download a use and care manual at http://www.geappliances.com/service_and_support/literature/

Milk boiled over and leaked into glass window on oven door. Can I take it apart to clean it? Oven is self cleaning..will this be a problem?

Yes...you can disassemble. Consult the owner's manual for door removal instructions. The manual can be found at this link with the instructions for removing the door on page 22.

The link below will show you the door construction. Lay them out in the order they came apart. Make notes if you think you'll get lost. It will be no problem if you reassemble correctly. Good Luck

Self-cleaning feature

Check your owner's manual, but most self-cleaning ovens should not be cleaned with chemicals. The finish can be permanently damaged. You might try running the oven through the self-cleaning cycle more than once. It will take some time. Make sure the room is ventilated properly since the cleaning cycle produces a lot of heat.
