Question about Princeton Digital VL1918 Monitor
Monitor turns on then screen goes blank but power light stays green. manufacturer says possibly a back light? Is this repairable or should I scrap?
Most common failures in the LCD monitors are bad capacitors (bulging top/seal or leaking) in the power supply, failed inverter circuits (blown fuse, shorted transistors, shorted/open transformers), bad lamps (poor solder connections or worn out lamps). You will need to open it up and inspect the inside, see example of failed Princeton monitors to get some ideas what to look for: http://s807.photobucket.com/home/budm/allalbums
Post back what you see inside so we can guide you further and it will help out other people in the future also.

Testimonial: "thank you the explanation sounds like its right on the mark. Unfortunately, I see these being sold used for under $50 so it is not worthwhile for me to repair as I don't have the expertise and I would think I would be charged at least that by a shop.I was hoping there was a reset button as I think the monitor succumb to an outage. Thanks again. "

Welcome to Fixya
First thing to do is to check all physical connection of the monitor if both ends are intact. Install the driver of your video card. If you have other computer, try to plug in the monitor to that computer, just to make sure that the video card of the 1st computer is not the problem.
Please reply back to this email for any update.
Thank you for using Fixya!
