Question about RCA RP2473 Personal CD Player

Open Question

I have an RP2910-B RCA CD player. I listen to books. I would like to know how to set it so that after I turn it off and then want to listen again, I can go right back to where I left off. Many thanks,

Same problem. After I turn it off, can it go back to where I left off? The guide leads me to believe it's impossible on this model.

The service is completely free and covers almost anything you can think of (from cars to computers, handyman, and even drones).
click here to download the app (for users in the US for now) and get all the help you need.
Good luck!

SOURCE: I have a RCA Cd

It should play back burned cd's but this is not an mp3 player. This means you'll need to burn your books as audio cd format, and not as a data disc with mp3 files.

SOURCE: I bought a memorex CD

I don't see anything online to suggest you can jog with it or otherwise jar it and expect it to play. Some players have a cache to reduce or eliminate loss of audio when the laser temporarily goes off-track.

Memorex portable cd player will not hold place on the cd when turned off

Audio books may be different but with a music CD if you press STOP once you can pick up where you left off. Pressing STOP twice reverts to the beginning.

Audio Books

There are several brands and publishers of audio books and you didn't identify yours. In most cases professionally produced audio books are separated into several 3-6 minute tracks. your CD player should just skip to the next using the button with the single arrow pointing to the vertical line. >l

When listening to audio books, If I'm using a cd player that doesn't retain the last track when shut off I make a mental note of the track number.

Hope this helps

Fast forwarding for listening to books

I use a Creative Zen V Plus, but have a similar problem.

First, an explanation: the issue is probably with the timecode in the audio track. This can happen when the audio file is created on a computer. The audiobook was likely "ripped" to a file from the original audiobook CD, and your player may not like the format the file is in. The best solution in this case is to recreate the audio files yourself. First remove all of the files from your Sansa for that particular book. Then use CD-burning software on your computer to create an audio CD (not a data CD!) from the files you got from the library. Finally, use the software that came with your Sansa to transfer the audio CD back to your Sansa. This way you know you are getting a correct format on your player.

If you have an additional issue (like me) where the tracks are too long and go back to the beginning every time you turn your player off, you may have to use an audio editor such as Audacity to chop the long tracks up into smaller tracks, but this is quite time consuming. It is best to acquire audiobooks in smaller tracks in the first place. This is the problem I have been faced with while using to listen to audiobooks.
