My tassimo is spilling coffee grounds everywhere when it punctures the t-disc. I've cleaned the barcode screen, and every other nook and cranny numerous times. It still brews the coffee correctly, but there are grounds in the coffee and all over the machine (the part that the disc fits into). Help!

It sounds like it may be faulty as it seems you are doing everything right.

Every T-Disc has a bar code? When you place the T-Disc in the brew-head, the barcode lies flat on a small area of glass or plastic. Beneath that is the barcode reader.

Our problem was that the glass or plastic had become dirty and the reader could no longer "see" the barcode clearly.

As a result, although the brewer came to life - just as you describe - it didn't know what to do, because it wasn't receiving any information from the barcode on the T-Disc. So it did nothing!

Here's what you do. Turn the machine off, lift up the brew head, lift up the thin tray on which you place the T-Disc, and then look for the glass/plastic screen. If it's dirty, give it a good cleaning.

open up the top of your machine where you put your disc, there will be a small rectangular piece of glass on the 'floor' of that opening, that your barcode reader. If you can't see it look at the barcodes on your coffee discs and 'pretend' to put in the disc wherever the barcode meets the 'floor' is where the barcode scanner is. just wipe with a damp cloth and dry. job done

Return for another one that works properly.

The problem is that the barcode on the cleaning disk is recessed unlike those on the pods. It seems that the reader has difficulty reading the barcode that is slightly further away than normal.

I've had this problem this afternoon and solved it by carefully peeling off the barcode from the cleaning disk and "fattening it up" with foam tape then re-applying to the plastic cleaning disk. Works perfectly now, just as well as I was close to throwing the whole machine at the wall.

Clean the barcode reader. If the little window has spills or coffee grounds on it then it wont read. The default for no barcode is the "manual" light

Try wiping off the barcode reader window under where the t-disc barcode sits.
