"Screw Stud Melted After Faulty Power Cord Occured".

I have a "Holmes Whisper Quiet Twin Ceramic Heater (Model #: HCH4953)" that has a melted screw stud after a fault occured at one the sides of the power cord (the positive side of the cord; which it's on the narrow~prong side of the plug). As an electronics technician student, I'd already found the fault of this particular hearter of mine, but is there is a way that I can can somehow manage to mount the screw to the melted stud or allow the screw to stay in its appropiate place? Thank you very much to whom it may concern.^^

Hello LILSHAUNLSS5,
I am not sure I understand the description of the problem but let me take a shot at helping you. First off, you obviusly had a short of some sort that drew excessive current , causing a fault and ultimately got hot enough while drawing that excess current to melt something.. Here is where I am a bit confused. Power going to the heater elements comes off the thermostat and onto one side of your elements. If that is where the screw melted, can you remove th eoriginal screw and redrill and tap a new hole for a new screw to be used? If there is any question about the integrity of that termination then I wouldn't mess around with it since anything you do wrong , may result in a fire. So whatever you decide, be careful. If you can provide a picture or sketch of what it is that failed, I may be able to assist you further.
Good Luck,
Regards,
Rick

I think the warrenty on this heater is one year. If the heater housing and cord are not overheating then I would remove back panel and clean fiter and brush, vacumn,or use compressed air to clean motor and fan blades. It's possible that if you have not been using very much that it's just burning off debris and causing the smell. I hope this helps you. Thanks

The heating coil isn't working. I am trying to get the screws out but they have triangular shaped indentations in the screws. Where do I get a screw driver bit to fit them?

the screws are tamper proof screws because it isn't meant to be user friendly. however if you have an old philips screwdriver and a dremel tool you can make a driver for those screws.

When temp. is set it will not come on at set temp.

The temp setting is not an "exact science" and is conditional:

The unit may be too close to a wall or other obstruction, such as an enclosure. It must be able to sense the temperature in the general area. When you move it, give it a few minutes the first time. After that, it will work correctly.

My oil-filled Holmes heater HOH2520U will not heat now. it was working for a while the shut its self off and now the control panel is constantly blinking unless it is set at the room temp. HELP PLEASE

I had the same problem. this is what i did. unplug the heater. removed the plastic panel to expose the control panel where the blinking light is.  Removed all the dust and cobweb build up, then using rubbing alcohol, wiped the white residue that was on the green circuit board. I did this 10 days ago and the heater has been working fine since then. chaz

Burnt plug

I will check, meanwhile go to the hardware store and get a replacement plug for it. the cord has a ribbed conductor and a smooth conductor. the ribbed conductor goes on the brass screw on the replacement plug. the smooth one goes on the other.
