Most likely the printer head is clogged either you have had a bad cartridge that was dried out and dried all the black ink in the brothers.
the only way to clear this up is take it to a place that cleans the head manually, or try top get to the printer head and clean them yourself.

I just changed all of the ink cartriges. Now the magenta and Cyan are not functioning....nothing. Everything is yellow and black, I cleaned the print heads twice, just wasting ink. I tried to align the...

If it worked before changing the ink-cartridges, then it probably is _NOT_ a case of "clogged" ink-jets in the print-head.

Did you remove the plastic "sealing" tape from the new cartridges, before you installed them?
If not, then no ink can leave the cartridge.

Which model of HP printer? Maybe, you got a "dud" of a new ink-cartridge.
Take it out.
Take an old, thick, section of newspaper, and lie it flat on your table.
Dampen a paper-towel, and put it onto the newspaper.
Touch the ink-cartridge to the paper-towel -- it should "bleed" some ink onto the towel.
Not much ink, but the newspaper is there to protect the surface of the table.
If no "bleeding", then the ink-cartridge is the problem.

Every cartridge prints except black. I have replaced the cart twice and still no joy.It shows as full on my computer. It just won't print.

Unfortunately, it's most likely that residual ink has dried and clogged the black print head. Plan on doing LOTS of cleaning cycles for the Black cartridge only if possible. It will consume lots of ink, so be prepared. After several cleanings and tests (as many as 10) you should see a gradually improving appearance of black. If not, try looking into the ink level counter to make sure it has reset to full as it shouls when you insert a new cartridge. If it is not, you sjould be able to change it. If that does not work, it's likely time for a new printer.

Go to printer settings/options and navigate to the color tab. See if you can find a setting which allows the printer to use only color cartridge, change this setting to use both cartridges.

Canon iP90 stopped printing in BLACK

hi... it might be that you need some time to let the ink absorb into the pads in the print heads ... this can take between a few hours and a day... Must be frustrating to deep clean three times and just seem that you are wasting ink cartridges, my "solution" would be to give it time or possibly clean the print heads manually.. hope it will solve it out..

thank u!!

IP90 WONT PRINT BLACK

I had this problem recently with my IP90. Both the black and color heads were clogged. After running the "canned" routines several times to clean the heads and deep clean the heads...still didn't help...here's what I did:

1. open the top lid to have the cartridges that are inserted in the print head move to the middle of the printer.
2. remove both cartridges
3. What is left there is the print head holder. Slightly move it to the right and gently lift the print head lock.
4. Grasp the print head and lift it out of the tank.
5. Have several paper towels hand and know that you will have color and bw ink on your fingers
6. Put the print head on the paper towel
7. Pour rubbing alcohol on the blk and color heads and let them sit of about 10-15 minutes.
8. after that dry the heads and re-insert them in the printer
9. I put new cartridges in the printer and ran clean and deep clean a few times.
10. My color and black and white print came right back!

Hope this helps.

Very Faint Printouts

I find the best way to clean the heads is buy some cleaning cartridges as they have cleaning fluid in them and use them to clean it will take about 10 or more times to clean the heads then put the color ones back in and try again.
Just keep putting it on clean the head don't do a print out till at lest you have cleaned 10 or more times.

HP Photosmart 7550 printer

There are some print head cleaning modes you may want to try.
In your menus , look around for those and run the print head calibrations and cleaning procedures.
Also with the printer unplugged. Dampen an cloth with some rubbing alcohol and remove the print cartridges, lightly clean all the contacts with that damp cloth.
They may just have some ink on the contacts giving you a false failure message.
Hope this helps you out. They can be fickle.

Black Printing

Possibly the printer head needs replacing. That's the actual black 'box' the inks fit in. I've generally found they last no longer than about 18 months. You can try cleaning the contacts with an alcohol pad before forking out the $50 odd dollars it costs for a new head. If you have some time on your hands you could also try reinstalling the drivers - http://consumer.usa.canon.com/ir/controller?act=SupportDetailAct&fcategoryid=232&modelid=8740 Good luck
