My pc crashed last night so have spent totally frustrating day trying to re-install XP etc etc. Have re-installed my canon scanner, but rather than scanning a laod of pages to one pdf file, it now scans each page to a separate file, so a ten page document becomes 10 one page files.
Does anyone out there have any ideas? I'm slowly loosing the will to live !

I suggest to go to the manufacturers website and get the downloads from there. If that's where you went and they said you needed to download the previous one first. Do it and then update it. Safest way to do it with less problems.
First check if the driver is installed. Then install CapturePerfect and select proper settings. If the background is dark, select 'Auto' else select an appropriate contrast level. Uncheck multipage so that you will know the pages scanned. If there is no response from the scanner, run Scandisk and try. Also try connecting the scanner to another systems and eliminate if the scanner/Operating system is faulty. If required reinstall OS.
Try re-installing the drivers , your crash could of corrupted the installed drivers causing your issues. I have installed Media Center on my Father in Law's cpu and found that it is very unstable at times and also many of his installed programs that worked fine under Win XP SP2 either crash frequently or wont work at all. Driver support is an issue for Media Center IMO. I would recommend if you cannot get the scanner to work after you re-install them , think about changing your OS. Good Luck.
